Funny thing is that same GM is willing to let the biggest tournament of the year go because they told him how dirty the place was and they wanted us back. Not sure if that GM understands how much money that brings in.

I would have understood if they put in laser tag or made their arcade bigger for those 10 lanes, but bounce houses? Only children can use it, I mean if the bounce houses didn't have Disney and cartoon characters on it maybe anyone older than 7 might want to use them, but with ones like that any adult looks like a pedophile. At least laser tag adults could enjoy and a bigger arcade anyone could enjoy.

Windows wants me to download critical updates for flash.

    I don't have flash installed.

But that's hearsay and we won't know until February when it goes on Pre Order

I guess the most important question would be, which would you get? I mean, by all comparisons it looks like the Vive has a slight edge
I'm probably getting the Rift (pre ordered one already, but cancelling is always an option if the Vive blows me away once they finally announce pre-orders), but that's mostly because I think room scale VR has a ways to go before it's super amazing, and I don't have a ton of room in my room to move around in (a lot of Room scale stuff will probably have options where you just need to be standing and have room to wave your arms around, but that won't be as cools as if you had a whole room to wander in). That said, we still don't know the specs of the consumer version of the Vive (or price), or the nitty gritty specs for the CV1 of the Rift, so no way to know which is the better buy yet.

Weird thing is that someone that only comes in to clean 5 times a week for 3-6 hours shouldn't know what's better than a GM.

I mean, even if you have a full room to move around in, how are you supposed to use it for any sort of gaming? You'll run into a wall rather quickly.

That's what the camera on it is for, it gives a translucent overlay of the stuff in front of your that you're near around your room so you don't run into stuff. The bigger issue is actually the giant cord needed to hook it up to the computer

I can feel my ankle snapping already.

But that still didn't answer my question. What happens when you reach the wall? Do you pause the game, walk back to the center of the room, and unpause? I can see open world RPGs like Skyrim or Fallout getting old really fast

I don't know why you spoilered that. I mean, a trap is just a sneaky little device to ensnare you. If you like those sorts of things that makes you an aspiring thief catcher!

Games will have to be designed around it, it probably won't work for big open world stuff without some kind of trickery. Eventually though we'll probably get good treadmill-esque things that'll allow for better open world experiences.

So then, the Vive's advantages of being able to stand up in a room are rendered obsolete for most games at this point. Of course, you can still use the Vive in a seated position with a keyboard and still get a good little VR experience, but the Oculus Rift can do that too, likely cheaper.

    Right?

Even so I'm sure making their arcade better would have been a much better bet than bounce houses, kids and adults can use an arcade, but adults normally can't use bounce houses.

    Right?

I think that most games will go motion controls or standard controller, but both types should be playable with both headsets. Also, I wouldn't say obsolete, just not optimal. Stuff like dungeon crawlers or on rails stuff would work great with the current room scale setup. Most good VR stuff will be games designed with VR in mind rather than ports of old games.

I bet it was cheaper to do the bouncy thingies though. Theoretically wider profit margin then

But what would be better than open world RPGs in VR? I guess that's more opinion than anything and not worth discussing.

Though I guess it raises another question. Presuming these older games such as Fallout modify their game to accept the VR input, you can still just sit down, grab a keyboard and a mouse, and wear the headset? I mean, it'll still be a pretty neat experience. I think. I dunno.

Seems like having a wider possible use is better than paying $10 for like an hour of bounce house use, not to mention the vomit and cleaning from it. Even parties didn't want to use them from I was told, only like 2 in 3 months wanted to use them. I'm sure these aren't rented so each of of these are easily $300 each, and they bought 8 or 10 of them, can't quite remember, so the work needing to take out 10 lanes and get those, not to mention build walls around it, seems much more expensive than moving the arcade to the pool area near their bocche ball courts, which not many use either but more so than the houses, which could mean having the party and the kids could be watch by the parents.

I don't know either way it was stupid and it has only continue to be so, so when they fire that GM, which we have been told will happen soon they will bring us on when the new GM comes in.

Not saying they won't be great, but with the current tech a lot of compromises would need to be made for them. There should be mods that allow some of the more popular open world games (Fallout 4, Sky rim, GTA V for example) to work with a VR headset and a keyboard/mouse or controller.
