So NCsoft did an interesting one.
Last week they announced the new expansion for BnS with "Coming this Spring". Now we get a twitter post, a week later saying that hey, the biggest expansion yet is coming in 2 days.

All that did was make this place more barren, I definitely don't enjoy it (even though I have not tried, but don't intend to, only judging it based on making this place have even less posts).

That's... kind of a strange thing to say. It's not like we forced people to join. It's a great program with an awesome group chat system and I for one am very happy that the ponies decided to use it. The group chat is a lot of fun, but just like I can't blame you for not wanting to be part of it, you can't blame us for wanting to use it.

Did it make the thread more barren? Well yes, of course. But I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. We did continue to post in this thread because we were a community and I don't see how it's a bad thing to have a group chat outside the forums where we can talk in real time. This doesn't mean the forums are going to die, people are still posting here, but it was already very quiet in here. I don't think Discord has anything to do with the thread dying completely, if it ever will, which I think it won't. As long as there's still people using it, it'll be alive. Will it be slow? Yeah, but it already was. I don't think it'll ever be fast again, not like it once was. But I don't think it'll completely die neither.

So yeah, basically, if you don't wanna use it that's fine, I can't force you to join us or anything, but don't just randomly blame Discord for the thread being what it is. It has been desolate for a long time, if anything then the 'Cord chat blew on the embers and made the community flame up a bit more than before, alas not on the forums.

I think I can blame it for what it is. We've gone from about 15 people to only about 7 posting here regularly.
