Just watched an episode of Kiff and was not expecting an existential crisis, with it breaking down the concept of thinking your life has peaked and it won't get better and feelings of giving up. Really surprisingly insightful moment in such a goofy show. It hits hard when in my life right now I don't feel like I'm really "getting anywhere" and just finished what certainly felt like the best show I will ever watch, The Owl House. But I had said that before with Avatar:TLA and MLP:FIM, and even after that there's still new things and happy moments to find even amidst the often maddening news coming out of the last few years.

Maybe it'll be better, maybe it'll be worse, maybe it'll just be different, but the show's not over until we're dead, so let's see where the future is headed.

That makes me remember how I constantly felt like I hit my peak just by being here. It's what happens when sometimes your low is so low that even a bit of "normal" can feel like a peak.

Call me crazy, but I'm looking into a comparison between MLP and RWBY. Seems like a recipe for success (in the sense they are waaaay bigger of a deal than they ever likely intended to be) they both went with is having their entire cast of main characters be composed of an entirely female cast with unique personalities. Honestly feel like, if I were to write my own series, that this would be the route to go with. Especially given how, most anime these days can't seem to resist adding the "obviously self-insert" male main character with the same exact freaking personality in every series. Anime in general suffers from having a template of like 5 different personalities to give female characters and it honestly gets old away a while. At the very least though, it seems to be a recipe for having a metric ton of porn produced about the series...

Just watched Uncle from Another World and it is so worth the watch. It's so incredibly clever to have, what is essentially, a reverse reverse isekai. So many good misunderstanding jokes that it keeps you entertained.

I haven't seen it yet (mostly because Netflix), but "Saving 80,000 Gold For My Retirement" has a bit of that. She has the power to go back and forth between her world and the fantasy world. There's also one this season whose name I forgot about a similar idea, guy gets powers in another world, comes back to the real world keeping them. I might be thinking of Dead Mount Death Play.

It's less "go back and forth" and more when the uncle got isekai'd by the truck he was in a coma for years before waking up, and once doing so he still has the magic he had in that world, and then reveals to his nephew what he went through. Seeing him being treated as an orc (as he's quite average looking, even ugly in some areas) the humor abounds thanks to that and more. Of course there's the usual anime trappings, but it's written in such a way that it elevates them rather than being eye rolling.

I'll have to look into the show you mentioned. I've been burning through a bunch of random series like Cagister of the Insect Cage, Drifting Dragons, Dragon Pilot, Evangelion (boy did the anime have a not ending), Revisions, Jojo's 6 (most of Jojo's is bad, #6 started promising, but ended the same as they all do; not good), Great Pretender (great show, and more so that it actually has a Freddy Mercury song as its ending), Super Crooks (good time), Children of Whales, Way of the House Husband, Shaman King (that new one is not great), Violet Evergarden (all of it is a slow, good time) and more.

That Freddy Mercury ending threw me off. Because I kiiinda recognized it, but wasn't sure. So my first thought was, did they get someone who can speak English to do the ending? Nano I love, and she speaks both languages and has songs in a bunch of anime. It's just not what you think of first. The only other time I can think of it happening was My Generation at the beginning of A Silent Voice.

I haven't watched the Violet Evergarden sequel movie, but I did watch the side story one, along with the series. But not having Netflix for some time with no chance of getting it soon means I kind of skip their anime. Though I did also watch Dragon Pilot a while ago. It sucks because Eden's Zero season 2 will becoming to Netflix soon. Dunno what anime they have anymore since you can't search if you're not subscribed (so stupid), but I think they have Haiykuu seasons 1 and 2.

It's an actual Freddy Mercury song, with the same name of the anime. Yes, they basically copied how it opens with cats, which is the animal Freddie loved the most.

Saw that, it was a strange song for what happens at the beginning of that movie.

It's a good time and a nice way to cap it off.

That annoys me the most, eventually we're gonna get a TV Guide just for streaming services.

If you have crunchyroll they are getting airing season 2 of edens zero now.

I heard, but I wasn't sure about it since I didn't hear anything else after that. Plus, the dub could get screwed over due to unions and stuff. It's not unheard of, but Crunchyroll really doesn't like union dubs. The cast was great (and they got Tia Ballard back for Happy), so if I can guarantee to hear them again, great. But I'm not getting my hopes up.

I couldn't get into Edens Zero, the fact that so many character designs are straight copies from Fairy Tail (yes, I know it's the same creator of both) is something I couldn't get past.

Definitely MLP's war on the MMOC forums, we fought and beat it multiple times.

Saw Part 4 of Gen 5 and I think it's the best part so far. While I was falling asleep a lot (due to being up for 30 hours) I was finding myself enjoying the better jokes and even the animation being a bit more lively.

This time around we learn a bit about Opaline and how she knew Celestia and Luna when they were young (they look a tad weird in CG as children). What's a bit strange is that a lot of the episodes "plots" seem to be started by Pip or linked to her in some way. I"m definitely starting to see that she show seems to be sticking with these quick resolutions to a lot of the issues. One episode Sunny learns her lesson half way through it, and while I like the episode quite a bit, it felt rushed.

I think that's what a lot of Gen 5 can be described as; rushed. With 7 episodes (with one being as long as two combined) it seemed like the episodes and the part itself could slow down a bit.

Nimona is one of a kind. Absolute must watch. I can think of a plot point or two that felt rushed but only in the "man this would've made a cool one season show" sense. And we almost didn't get it at all due to licensing junk, so I am thrilled and planning to go find that graphic novel ND Stevenson made that it's based on ASAP.

Really? Good to hear. My interest had been dwindling but I'll give it another shot. I think I can be forgiven for skipping the christmas special, it wasn't really hooking me but I think all I really needed was a recommendation to jump-start that motivation again.

I'll have to check it out. Most recent things I've watched are the Black Clover movie, which was a very basic Shonen battle movie. It's a bit less mid series than Fairy Tail, but boy that movie was sure average.

Of course Part 4 is the best within Gen 5, it still has the general pacing issue and I find it odd that this Gen started with a big mystery of "what happened long ago" it has only really fed us one Twilight hologram and the villain knowing Celestia and Luna at one point. Between the mystery and even the characters it doesn't quite feel like Gen5 has found out what it wants to be quite yet.

It's weird how Gen 4 was great (mostly) while its movie was kinda bad and here we have Gen5 where its movie is great, but its show is rather average for the most part.

Totally forgot you suggested this movie as I watched it a couple weeks ago and forgot about this post.

While it's nothing necessarily new in the story telling department; in fact it's rather cliche to an obvious degree, it keeps your attention with the characters and the world being a nice mix of a modern city that has knights in it.

I was surprised that the protagonist & antagonist being gay wasn't more of a problem for the usual crowd, we all know the political type, you'd think they'd be going nuts over this, but I'm glad they didn't.

The animation and dialogue help keep this movie going, even if you can see the entire plot just by reading the synopsis of the movie. Nimona herself most definitely steals the show and the way her character moves and transforms brings a lot of joy with it.

While I don't know if it's a must watch I will say that it's pretty close to that.

Recently finished Wednesday and it was just okay. Honestly, I don't think the Addam's Family works in this day and age. When children can see beheadings without much issue it's hard for me to believe that everyone would be so weirded out by Wednesday or any of the family.

The show itself was a bit strange, the first half felt like we were in Monster High, and then the second half felt like a slow Scooby Doo. The last episode felt like it was two episodes for how quick it seemed to move. Wednesday's actor and Thing's actor's hand did a lot of work and they really portrayed the character's rather well, but Gomez felt incredibly subdued and not the overly eccentric that he's always shown.

(Yes it's been a while after I said "I'd check it out!" but that just means it's in my queue and I've had other stuff!)

That was great. Honestly the first moment I'd say so far that's lived up to the standards of the movie; absolutely loved this song. Did they get cameo singers from G1 involved in this? It seemed heavily implied.
