    Potential Blizzcon 2016 Dates - November 4 and 5
Blizzard may be getting ready to announce Blizzcon, with an update to the Blizzcon site that has since been reverted, including this information:

Unless Legion hasn't been released yet...

Legally, Blizzard isn't able to release it past September 21st. So, even if they would take 6 more months to work on Legion, it would never reach November, because it can't. Great prediction.

Good thing we don't actually have a release date then, huh? Big difference between the deadline and a release date, something you should know about by now after all these years.

They haven't guaranteed September. They wrote expected.

Pre-purchase: Game is expected to release on or before September 21, 2016.
Pre-purchasing Legion grants early access to the new Demon Hunter class prior to the expansion’s release.

Rofl, please don't tell me you're thinking you can use this as some sort of "excuse" to "force" Blizzard to release their game. They'll release it when they're ready, whether that's September 21st, July 4th, December 31st, or June 2018. Release dates change all the time, and there is no legal obligation whatsoever for them to release it on or before September 31st just because their ad says so.

When I see a "now hiring" ad in a newspaper from 3 years ago, I don't get upset or try to sue the company because they are no longer hiring. Same concept applies.

They DID try to start faster expansions in the current expansion. Why do you think there were no real content rich patches in WoD and only two raid tiers?

Blizzard just stated late last year they are no longer shooting for faster/annual expansion launches again after the debacle that was Warlords of Draenor. They stated they want to go back to the normal multi-patch cycles like we saw in Wrath and early in MoP.

Now they only said they 'wanted' to do this. 'Want' does not mean Blizzard will do something.

Falling all over themselves to rush out WoD and then trying to rush out Legion while going back and forth leaving WoD to whither and rushing back to give it life support was the entire problem with WoD. Just let them focus on getting back on track and do not expect the next expansion announcement at this year's Blizzcon. That would be AWFUL news for Legion.

Despite all the whining here I think that's great news. Blizzcon is always very good, and it's a major bummer when they skip years. I love the event, the news on games, the tournaments (especially Hearthstone).

I also think it's silly to assume anything on a wow release date for this. Blizzcon is on the same date every year that is's on +/- a week or two.

This might shock you, but Blizzcon will become less and less about WoW as time goes on. HS, OW and the more plug and play games will get more and more attention. Sorry.

They HAVE to have something big this year. 10th Blizzcon and 25th Anniversary of Blizzard as a company? Perfect time to blow the roof off the place with a new Warcraft (non WoW) announcement.

    Source?

I personally prefer the 2-year/multi-patch cycle, so hopefully they stick to it.
