    Legion - Hidden Cheat Death

Found a hidden mechanic for Warriors, and I'm sure there's one for other classes as well.

(note the left most buff, gif cut off, but death occurs on expiration)

    https://i.gyazo.com/517a5af7d18dbb6c...72bbf002ed.png
(huge heal, attributed to Odyn's Fury as the effect which triggered the KB)

    http://beta.wowdb.com/spells/218826-trial-by-combat
    http://beta.wowdb.com/spells/218822-gaze-of-the-valkyr
(15m CD, not displayed in game)

Basic mechanics for those uninterested in clicking links:
Buff procs on attack that would kill the player, giving them 8s of immunity. If they kill the target that triggered it within that 8s, they receive a substantial heal, if not they die. Not sure if it requires the killing blow (thereby limiting it's usefulness in raids/group content) or just for the target to die, but probably the former.
*The buff also automatically triggers Enrage, which refreshes itself halfway through (giving 8 full seconds of Enrage), and generates 10 rage every 2s.

    Other possible class effects:
(Unconfirmed! I found these by digging through spell data, so it's possible they could be associated with other effects such as trinkets, encounter mechanics, and so on. Only the Warrior effect has been confirmed so far.)

    Hunter: http://legion.wowhead.com/spell=2193...eagles#summons *Verified.
    Warlock: http://beta.wowdb.com/search?search=...gorized-spells
    Druid: http://beta.wowdb.com/spells/218805-elunes-redemption
    Paladin: http://legion.wowhead.com/spell=1853...t-of-vengeance

That was quick; apparently this was supposed to be a secret. Whoops.

There's one for every class. Already found spell data for many of them, though I need to test further before confirming.

Hopefully this is disabled for mythic+ dungeons and raiding >.>

Then I salute you for doing that testing! Can't wait to learn more about all these hidden effects.

They aren't as of right now. Truth be told though, none of them are that impactful.

The Warrior one for example sounds awesome, but the major difference between it and Purgatory/Cheat Death is that it requires us to get the killing blow on the enemy that triggered the effect. This is an incredibly unreliable mechanic in raids, and even in Dungeons it's iffy at best.

I can see it being somewhat useful on for progression on a fight like Butcher, but it's still going to be rather niche.

So say It triggers on us. We have 8 seconds of dps and then we die ( most likely). Kinda like how holy priests can keep healing for awhile after death? I kinda like it

More or less. There's some potential for using it, ex: pulling instant aggro with Bladestorm, you'll survive long enough to keep doing damage, and have a good chance of getting a kill (just hope it's the right target). It also has a (hidden) 15m CD, so it's not as though you can chain the effect throughout a fight.

Really, it's more useful for solo/leveling content. It is important to note that it works in world PvP as well, though I've not tested it in instanced PvP yet, so I don't know if it will be disabled in arenas, etc.

I mean if anything it is pretty nice to have 8 extra seconds of free dps ( that also triggers enrage). Can't really complain about it as its just +s

I like this, it adds more mystery and awe to the artifacts. Good find.

So they copied the Warrior/Berserker downed skill Vengeance from GW2 and put it "hidden" on the artifact... They should copy the rest too, would be way better designed than the incomming WoD disaster 2.0 lol

Wow thats actually pretty cool of blizzard, keep us updated on all the classes once you've found them if you could Archi ty

You think this is new to GW2?

It's a funny coincidence that you posted this while discussions about Blizzard obfuscating mechanics were going on.

Fantasywise I guess it's a cool concept to have a last stand against some mobs. I'm not a fan of not having to worry because daddy Odyn is babysitting me, I'd rather straight up refuse to die and feel invigorated by my enemies' blood, but they gotta keep Odyn important I guess.

Raidwise I could see taunting an add to make sure it gets the killing blow on you if you're about to die anyway, it's might be harder to pull off if you need the killing blow for the proc, but it's an interesting option if you can play around it.

The weird thing is, if there's one for every class, then they pretty much cancel each other out in PvP... edit - you probably mean there is a different effect for every class. In which case, never mind.

Of course isn't but it work in the very same way except that on GW2 you need to active it while on WoW is a passive hidden skill that will make people make posts around the web for months asking if it is a bug.

looks good, but the druid one looks better lol, elune resses your and then 8 seconds of immune to damage....yeh ok that'll be fun in pvp

oh no wait everyone will get cancer having to kill a druid twice, and in pve? it's just highly exploitable, these seem fun but hilariously overpowered.

I see 8 seconds of a dps warrior "tanking" after a raid boss enrages... sweet... sort of like a holy pally bubble taunt from the far side of the room. (Yes, I know you don't want to hit enrage. I do remember a number of post enrage progression kills including a H Maloriak progression kill that was "boss tank is the only person left standing about 5 seconds after extended spirit of redemption ends with a dead boss making the adds disappear".)

well if you check the druid one where they ress and become immune to damage for 8 seconds, it seems like the whole damn raid is going to get 8 seconds of immunity, combined with immunities you can keep going for 5 minutes after enrage lmao.

Wait so the druid gets one that revives them with no strings attached. Warrior gets one that revives them but they die if they dont kill what killed them?

If every class gets on they all need something tacked on. If everyone but warrior ends up "revive, 8 second immunity" then its kinda BS.
