Ah actually I was thinking of Tuon, I don't actually remember Tylin and Mat at all.

It was a role reversal that type of thing that saw Mat being chased instead of him doing the chasing. It did get a little dark at times like being forced at knife point and he was a male mistress. He seemed to like it as well since he is shown growing to like being lord-like and dressing in the fancy clothes. So it wasn't all bad.

Man wheel of time is such a divisive place for me. On one hand I kinda of want to go through the series again for a reminder, on the other I felt like huge parts of it was a slog even the first time through and I never want to touch again.

I suppose I should be happy that the show is just a solid Ok for me as if it was better it would likely draw me back to the books.

Rand gets around a fair bit him self, he sleeps with the Aiel girlfriend in i want to say the 5th or 6th book then takes turns with her and the queen girl in like book 8/9, and there are likely abunch of other times I'm forgetting. think Min is the only one he doesn't sleep with multiple times before the end.

I think Mat is actually the one who gets the least (mabye no?) sex surprisingly.

Rand sleeps with Aviendha in the snow, and again towards the end of the series. Min sees her pregnant as well prior to the last battle. He sleeps with Elayne once. He sleeps with Min quite a few times, starting with the time he felt guilty about and she berated him for. Min stays with him quite a bit towards the end and a few times is mentioned that they were sleeping together multiple times.

Perrin only sleeps with Faile, credit him with Beralain after him.

Mat fools around with ALOT of women, hard to know how many he sleeps with, but he doesn't act like Tylin was his first by any measure, so its safe to say a few. Tylin treats him like a sex toy/royal plaything. Tuon and him have sex, as she tells him he got her pregnant and she could kill him now since he gave her an heir. If I recall right, the first time we are made aware of Mat's sexual partners is the Maiden of the Spear/darkfriend he ends up having to kill.

I re-read the entire series twice since the show came out, because the show was so bad for me that I wanted to wash the taste out of my mouth. The books really aren't that bad outside of Knife of Dreams and Crossroad of Twilight. The others are all reasonably paced and enjoyable re-reads. I've actually re-read AMOL 3 times, once just because I like alot of scenes in it that I can re-read without having to go through the whole story.

I enjoyed that arc, was sad what happened to Tylin.

The irony is that her death has no purpose, as her son does nothing of note in the story past that and Altara has nearly no importance after it. She was basically fridged. Died to make Mat sad, and arguably push him into wanting to help Moiraine.

Personally pacing wise id say just eye of the world the great hunt shadows rising and mabye memory of light (though that one erks me in different ways) really hold up well.

Ah I see. Yea I can basically tell you all the major plot points for every book outside of the two I mentioned. Post Cleansing and pre-Sanderson are vague for me still, but everything else I have at quick recall.

I wonder if that has anything to do with why you liked the show better. It is likely harder to be upset about screwed up plot if you don't remember it all that well. (though admittedly you say you recall the first 2 books)

I've said quite a few time that I think the show is a pretty god awful adaptation so not remembering some plot points really doesn't effect me view at all, The first two books are also likely the one's I remember of the most of with the second book being my favorite by far So given what's adapted so far there is far less slush.

And I can't say I remember Noam but it's always a toss up between my dyslexia and actually forgetting something when it comes to names beyond characters I really like. Like I don't think I could name most of the forsaken but Id think I have a decent hold on most of there story lines.

Almost positive that Mat was probably the only one of the entire two rivers lot who wasn't a virgin even before they left the village. I am pretty sure it was heavily implied that he'd had quite a few rolls in the hay with several of the local girls, and the only reason he hadn't been forcefully married to one of them was because they'd never been caught in the act.

I want to say the balefire happened first so if that counted it would likely be then though I can’t say I remember if they ever address balefire undoing stuff and magical links like with the horn.

Though I know they get in quite a bit of talk about how magic items work and how to make new ones in later books so Mabye it’s addressed there.

Shadowferal brings up a good point I hadn't considered.

Book 4 is when Mat gets hung from a tree, however in the Last Battle Hawkwing says that the link was not broken then (implying Mat wasn't totally dead).

Book 5 is when Mat is seemingly dead (though not confirmed, Rand just thought he was dead) and does bring him back with balefire against a darkhound.

Book 5 is also when Rahvin kills Mat with lightning. This is a contested thing though since his medallion later works against men's channeling (Halima and Demandred). Whether Mat was dead or just knocked out and smoking from the blast is hard to say.


We will go with Book 5, and leave it at that, either could be the right answer.

names are a block hole on my part. Outside of the main two rivers starting cast I can only think of a handful of characters I could name for sure mostly being the characters I liked the most being Gawyn, Galad , Faile, Hopper, Min, Tam, Birgitte, Demandred and Egwene who I remember because I absolutely can’t stand her.

Nah, I understand she is a super divisive character. I love her, but she is basically like every woman in my family so I relate to her alot. Outside of Moiraine, she is one of the few female characters that I feel has a balanced character and doesn't drift into stereotypes. One of the ONLY things I liked about the show was that they recognized that Egwene's story makes 100000000x more sense if you simply say "She is a ta'veren". Now, basically everything people dislike about her makes sense and you can enjoy the story.

Besides, who doesn't like a badass B hanging out of a broken tower shooting lightning at dinosaurs?

honestly I just think him fighting Gawyn Galad and then Lann at the end was really cool, though it’s likely that it’s more so that I like those three a ton with Lan being my second favourite character.

Well the show cut the heron-marking stuff out completely. As far as any viewers who aren't readers are concerned, its just a sword.

Given the pictures we've seen of the girl they cast as Elayne...... man.... I could say I'm expecting too much, but I know Amazon is capable of casting people that look like the character they are supposed to be playing. Elayne (for all her faults) is supposed to be exceptionally beautiful with red-gold curls. This is who they think Elayne is....
