    You don't need a Reinhardt. And if you're gonna say you "need a Reinhardt", you'd better be playing a hero that's going to sit behind that shield and capitalize on that to get a bunch of kills they couldn't otherwise get, making up for Reinhardt's near-complete lack of offense while he's shielding you.

    If you're a Soldier 76 who's gonna hang close, that might make sense. If you're playing a Tracer, just stop.

    D.va is my other played tank, but she has the same problem, at a worse clip. She can't shield and shoot, and she has to spend more time without her shield. Hell, at this point I'd rather play Orisa than the tank I have 30 hours on and love(d). D.vs sucks now. Hell, I got more damage blocked as Mei than I ever had with D.va, and it was because of D.va. Thanks for those ults, I'll just put a wall right in front of it.

    I feel the game finally shifted away from Rein a little, feels pretty good to see his pickrate being lower than both Winston and D.Va in professional play.

    Playing with a 3stack and just diving with Winston/Genji or Tracer/Zenyatta is incredibly fun and has been an easy way to grind out SR.

    I don't think so. The first three matches were people who left at character selection screen at the very start. One was even a person in a premade group. The fourth match had someone leave much later into the game, but it must have been a disconnect because he came back (just too late for us to survive). Also, I play on NA where I am pretty sure spring break has since passed.

    I've had a lot of leavers lately and while some of those may be due to an influx of people on holiday, the drastic uptick decently over the usual occasional one does seem a little suspicious. Maybe there are external factors at play. Or maybe it's just a coincidence! This is the most I've played at this SR, as I'm still recovering from my 1000 point drop from two weeks ago (I was back up 550 of that, but then they changed support fire and I'm getting way less points per win than per loss now so it has slowed drastically); maybe that kind of thing is normal here.

    I had a slew of bad matches over the holiday weekend and chalked it up to people who never play finally having a few games. The stuff I'm referring to has specifically been going on earlier last week and the last couple days of this week, outside of the holiday.

    Just had a match where we had identical percentages on the point (32.4%), and both went into overtime, and it didn't end in a draw. I don't even understand how that can happen; it seems broken.

    Anyone know? Am I missing some variable?

    It should set the percentage on how the first team did, and then if the second team gets higher, they win. If they don't, they lose. If you lost when both were at 32.4%, it's probably that theirs was at 32.44% and yours was at 32.41%, or something, and you just didn't see the extra decimal points.

    No, it was definitely identical; nearly everyone on both teams commented on it. (I also don't think it goes to two decimal places)

    But it could be the former case, since the team that attacked second was the one that lost. That's not very transparent in the new ruleset though. All of us expected a draw.

    Nothing says, "you're going to lose" this game more clearly then when you get stubborn teammates
    who refuse to swap when they're clearly being ineffective at the role they're on. Insert "Hanzo main"
    and the like here.

    Also having teammates with no time in the game and start competitive. Sure, that could be a smurf
    account, but when they DON'T perform well at all, well, that's when you know you're gonna have a
    bad time.

    I can't complain TOO hard about new players; they've gotta start sometime. I think they need a better placement system, though.

    Last week as part of the release of patch 1.10, we made a change to how a competitive match victory was determined on Assault and Assault/Escort maps. We had received a tremendous amount of feedback that ties on these maps felt unsatisfying, particularly on maps such as Hanamura. We then decided to change the general rule that required a team to fully capture one more objective than your opponent to win. You now only need to gain more progress than your opponent.

    While this new rule makes ties exceedingly rare, there are now some gameplay situations that ended up feeling more awkward with the new rule.

    If Team A is on Hanamura defense and prevents Team B from ever gaining any capture progress, then when Team A is on offense they only need to reach 1% capture progress to win the game. This means Team B needs to always have someone contesting on the capture point, or they risk losing.

    Even with both teams aware of the new victory conditions and adapting appropriately, the instantaneous nature of the victory often resulted in confusion about what happened. Did the defenders not have someone on the point due to a mistake, or did the attacking Lucio pull off an amazing boop? This lack of clarity is not ideal, so we’re going to make a change in a future patch.

    Instead of needing to simply earn 1% more progress on an objective than the enemy team to break a tie and win, a team will also now also need to achieve a minimum of 33% progress. Here’s some examples:

    Team A attacks the first objective on Hanamura, but only gains 10% progress after a really rough offensive round.
    Team B then attacks, but they can only gain 20%.
    This is a TIE. Neither team achieved the minimum of 33%.

    Team A attacks the first objective on Hanamura, and gains 90% progress. (So close!)
    Team B attacks, and only gains 40%. progress.
    Team A WINS, as they had a minimum of 33% and more progress than their opponent.

    Team A attacks the second objective on Hanamura, and fully captures it with 3:00 left.
    Team B attacks the second objective on Hanamura, and captures it in overtime with 0:00 left.
    Team A now is back on the attack, trying to take the first objective. They can only reach 20% progress after their time bank of 3:00 elapses. This is a TIE. They did not meet the minimum target of 33% progress. If Team A had reached 33%, then they would have won the match.

    This change means slightly more ties will occur than the present rules (still WAY less than the 6% rate across all competitive matches we saw before), but we feel that the additional clarity of the victory moment and ability for the defense to react to the offense are worth it. We appreciate all the feedback we’ve received about this issue, and remember that this change will be forthcoming in a future patch.

    Dipped my toe in comp. Won both games but went back to just playing tons of qm. Granted there are lots of times where I'm solo healing, and we have no tanks, but w/o SR on the line, and matches ending quicker, I'm having a lot of fun. I hope they add more stuff to spend comp points on, though. New weapon skins or something. I suppose I could be banking points for when they eventually do...hrm.

    Also, I think Widowmaker has been on every single qm team today. People love her.

    If you are getting bad players in competetive mode it isn't 'kids on easter' causing your problems, as they would have to be good enough to be in your mr rating anyways unless you were way down in elo hell. More than likely someone saw the team comp and decided to split. Not everything can be blamed on kids, there are perfectly shitty adults playing this game too.

    People who are playing her love her, most people don't like snipers in this game because in qm most people suck at them, they don't help with objectives and since no one can see what they are doing it appears they are doing nothing. Use to be Widow was a must pick in competetive, not anymore. I'm at the point if I see a widow and a Hanzo on my team at team pick time I just leave.
    If you push a button that finds you a 'random group' and it gives you a random group of people with random skill and random knowledge then you have no right to complain that a 'random group' button did what it was designed to do. The fault lies in your inability to make friends to play with instead of relying on a button designed to be random. It is a 'random group' button, not a 'best of the best' button.

    any tips for getting better with widow/hanzo? when others play them they get like 99% headshots, when I play them I hit like 99% a rock on the other side of the map

    @ leaving: left a few games on 3vs3 in arcade after first/second round because there was absolute no teamplay, no heal from mercy(just using her gun) and so on.
    and I got the deserteur debuff for 5 games with 75% less xp.
    so guys be careful with leaving in arcade
