Too bad, once it is on the internet, it will be there FOREVER.

Also, Rule 34, If it exists, there is porn of it.

Blizzard cannot take them down. It is part of the internet.

This doesn't seem like a futile move at all.

yeah i know theres no stopping it once its on the internet, but i don't really fault blizzard for wanting to protect their brand, how ever futile that may be.

    Oh you silly Blizzard.

I don't even get it, honestly, outside of repressed puritanical views on sex. Of all the things they could be spending their time and money on, it's vainly trying to shut down a harmless pastime.

Blizzard welcome to the internet where nothing is really deleted.
It doesn't matter in the slightest whether or not it's fair use, stuff like this is always going to be made regardless. This is also not the first blizzard game where people created porn using using the 3d models, it's very naive of blizzard to think that they can control it.

I'm not personally into this kind of stuff, but I'm not gonna act like some sort of justice warrior and claim that blizzard should do this because it's in their right, cause it's simply not possible to police what get's made on the internet.

But you don't have to make new models for it to fall under fair use.
The naughty parts are the only thing they actually do model themselves. And something isn't considered fair use just because you aren't making money off it. If you are stealing someone else's stuff like that, you won't even get close to being considered fair use.

It doesn't really matter what they do. It will continue to happen and exist for as long as people are interested in it. This is actually a little dumb by Blizzard. They're just giving what they deem inappropriate free advertisement by making a fuss over it. I didn't even know about this until MMOC was posting it everywhere for example and now they're fueling the fire.

I think this is just a matter of Blizzard protecting assets from a legal standpoint. They know they won't stop rule 34. It is just showing they're making an attempt to protect their IP.

If you don't defend yourself against people making money with videos, how can you ever win a case when people decide to use your gamefiles for their own game?
You know that garry mod rips assets from hundreds of games and noone cares. Why ? Because people using them are free publicity. Blizzard is fighting windmills now and brings even more attention to topic they want to avoid.

Trying to take down overwatch porn is a joke. Haven't seen them make a statement about all the wow porn thats been going on for years now.

They created a game with the intent of giving everybody a Husbandu and Waifu and act surprised when Rule 34 surfaces. GRANTED, in Overwatch's case it's pretty much impossible to look up any images of characters on a protected search without some sort of barely cropped Rule 34 of Tracer appearing, but then the same could be said of other popular IP's like League of Legends too.

Porn is made with actual assets from a ton of different games, why do you think no other gaming company have done anything about it? Because it's literally impossible so there's really no point in even trying.

All this does is make blizzard look incompetent for trying to do something so silly.

I don't understand, issuing take down notices doesn't mean they immediately all disappear, nor does it mean Blizzard thinks they can get rid of every single one. They most likely want to just get rid of as much as they can, and discourage the creation of it.

I mean, they could go the Nintendo route of handling it though.

I think you're all dramatizing this a bit much. This isn't "Blizzard" getting angry and wanting to exact justice on some villainous scum. It's just their legal department going through the motions, same as every day of the year.

Eh, I don't think it's that bad. They'll probably manage to cut most of it down, I'd imagine people would start to not want to even put the effort into making new ones just for them to be taken down.

The closest thing I saw to Overwatch Porn was coming out of the wrong hole and being fucked by Bastion.
