A lot of sub-races already in game do have different models from the playable races though? It isn't just color variations...

Would be nice to have some male draenei that looked like the intelligent magical race they're supposed to be and less like overstuffed sausages.

Hello, I am necroing this thread.

It seems the Arathi are indeed playable. But instead of the barbarians as we had hoped, they seem to be imperialistic half elves.

Like if the Bretons from Elder Scrolls made their way into WoW, but they kept their pointy ears.

The Kul’tirans are the barbarian model without the barbarian lore.

I still feel we could have had a few more sub races.

Half orcs would have been great. A more humanised orc would be extremely popular. Light green skin, human eyes and face but orc female tusks.

Upright for sure, a slimmer muscled body than the normal orc
Human beards and hairstyles with some orc ones

    - massive hit

Mom-Nathalie : 2 versions in one race. A near ogre like type face and body and this is the “ogre” model. But able to customise to a more heavily muscled orc that’s more British and muscular - Rexaar type.

Alpha-Worgen should become a WereElf sub race where the night elves who got trapped in the Emerald dream also grew in number and started following other wild gods allowing the Werebear , Werecat (Saberon), Harpy,Worgen as options, each with their own customisation. While their night elf form has customisable antlers, and can have other features like faun legs or normal legs , feathered arms or normal , leafy hair or normal, branch arm like Cenarions or normal.

Near whole forsaken should be Vampire forsaken, that use blood to keep themselves looking undecaued. It’s a different type of model, basically the Diablo3/4 Necromancer model, upright

Meanwhile Wikdhammers should be their own Allied race rather than a customisation.

Morncustomisations can have preset models with names like Wildhammer and High Elf, Highborne that allow a certain collection of customisations to come to the forefront locking or shadowing others that you can manually unlock. The preset will contain the sub race info. But that would only work for groups like High elf, Wildhammer, Bkackrock, Dragonmaw, Highborne. And for some of those they might want to add an extra layer of customisations. Like Highborne could get some of those Tyrande avatar of Elune glowy stars on face and glowy tattoos that look more Magical and perfect for priest and mage Highborne types

It’s the sorta move they should make next customisation pass.

Harronir are very satisfactory IMO in terms of achieving the Were-Elf Worgen-ish vibe, especially with the fur-covered body and digitigrade clawed feet customization. I'm certain that they'll become playable soon.
    You just lost The Game

After many years WoW has finally gotten all of the requests for the sub race options. We got Playable Wildhammer Dwarves, Half Elf Arathi Humans, Dark Ranger Dark Fallen Elves, Eredar Draenei, Sand Trolls, Dark Trolls, Grimtotem, and that's pretty much it as far as I can think about for Wow's customization options.

Mok'thanal still isn't available sadly. Sure wish I was a Half Ogre by now.

blizzards been going down the wishlist which is very nice of them looking after what players want to play.

Not sure who bumped this but I told you guys half-mechanized gnome hybrids were a player suggested race! I told you!

(still think they'd be significantly better if we could just customize individual limbs to be robotic or not to avoid the "diaper" more easily, and add recolors of the heritage armor that match all of the metal colors you can choose.)

Still, damned impressive of Blizzard to have, if some of them on a technicality, implemented !!!!!!!!!!13!!!!!!!!!!!! of these allied subraces as of today! Damn good job, round of applause for Blizzard.

Can't say I'm particularly enthusiastic towards "gnome, but with syphilis" or "worgener worgen" but of the remaining list I do think broken, half-ogres, and skeleton forsaken are all absolutely doable. I'd be curious if people would be content with half-ogres or if we would need both them and ogre-ogres. I feel like half-ogres would be a good compromise to have the "vibe" with a rigging that isn't so gratuitously fat as to ruin any armor you try to wear.

allied races are the subraces, just different name, this is the same thing like saying it needs player housing when we already got garrisons (which is the same thing but warcraft's version)

We don't need raids since dungeons exist. We don't need dungeons since scenarios/delves exist.

that's obviously a category error fallacy, dark iron dwarves were considered "sub-races" before allied races came into wow, it was an early unofficial term for that, and the garrison is everything that one would expect from player housing in warcraft, its a single-expansion feature (yet can still be used in all expansions) and it combines both personal place to be while also faction military stronghold, with upgrading buildings and such like in the realtime strategy warcraft, its just that instead of player-housing its called draenor garrisons

raid, dungeons and scenarios are a different type of instanced content, although now with "story mode" for raids, they are basically all treated as dungeons practically,

Raids are just dungeons for more people.
