    Sata 6gbs vs m.2 pcie3 (samsung 950 pro) - Will I notice the difference?

Basically, I'm at the ground works of a build... and am considering getting the 950 pro from Samsung, to use a m.2 slot. I know it is faster, there is no doubt about that. Just need to make sure my motherboard will allot the correct lanes to the m.2 and not use the sata lanes....

    But, will I even notice?

I mean, going from an old disc drive to SSD is night and day, to the point where I won't build without an SSD for boot..

How does the 950 pro (or even the sm951 for the matter) compare to say.. 850 evo? I could get a 500g 850 evo for about the same price as the 950 pro 256g...

Here is a rough idea of my game plan... With and without m.2... it is a possible chunk of cash if i go with out, and these are very rough plans with room to adjust.... as I plan on waiting for the new AMD card to come out prior to building...

    With the m.2....

I'm looking at the Xeon e3 as it is comparable to the i5 6600(k), and I have no plans on overclocking... gives me hyperthreading and all that jazz... I plan on waiting for the amd rx 480, which hopefully won't be to much longer...

so any advice would be handy...

Honestly, in day to day you'll hardly notice it. The main benefit is when you are transferring large files.

Day to day? TBH you probably couldnt tell a difference from a sata 2 ssd. I have an ocz agility 3 in my HTPC it boosts so ridiculously fast even on that old terd.

No, you really won't. I mean, if you boot in 5-10 seconds with your SSD like I do and go to m.2 you mighst start booting in 3-7 seconds. Not really a big improvement.

That is what I had figured, no point in shelling out the extra dough then...

It isn't like there is a shortage on sata connections...
