    Question Upgrade time? List inside

    Greets!

I've decided that my rig (from signature) needs upgrading, with all these new parts coming out!

I'll sell my 970 and use some of the savings I have for this project.

Planning on getting the 1070 with custom cooler from a brand.

So far I'm inclined to continue using the G1 Gaming brand for GPU, even though I've gotten several advices to go with the Strix this time (any info would be nice).

So, here's the rest of the build list, excluding video:

    1. Mobo: ASUS Z170-A LGA 1151 Intel Z170
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813132566
    2. Two RAM sticks: HyperX Savage 8GB 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2666
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-645-_-Product
    3. CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K 6M Skylake Quad-Core 3.5 GHz LGA 1151
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-561-_-Product
    4. And I'm not sure if I should - New PSU (Gold Standard this time) - Fractal Design Edison M 650W
    http://www.fractal-design.com/home/p.../edison-m-650w
    Thoughts?

I know CPU/GPU are going to be huge boosts compared to current build, but is it worth it to upgrade now or should I wait a bit?

    Any thoughts appreciated!

    Your budget please.

No huge gains to be had on the processor side.

Sadly, I live in a small country. It doesn't have much, vendor wise and it's mostly in our language - Bulgarian.

What about your budget? I understand that you pay VAT all across Europe so is it ok to compile the list from the German vendors and let you check your local vendors for those parts later?

Yes, sure, that would be great.

Edited my last post - 800 euro budget for GPU+Mobo+CPU (and PSU if needed).

Thanks, is overclocking on your radar?

Might be, at least the easy one (through pre-made modes in the BIOS).

    Thanks for the list!

Is there any reason to switch my 212 EVO for that cooler (or you didn't notice I had it)?

Also, isn't 3000MHz a bit overkill for the memory?

You are potentionally overclocking, and this one is much more efficient. Also it's much more quiet on nominal RPM. The memory you can swap for DDR4-2666 but the price difference is not big at all.

There isn't any direct comparison that I can find, but from looking at this chart which shows the difference between the 140 and 120 true spirit you can see that the difference is between 5-7c.

Then you take this which has a comparison between the 212 EVO and TRUE Spirit 120. It shows on average the 212 EVO is 3c cooler than the 120. That means you're looking at the 140 being 2-4c cooler. Not worth it when you already have an EVO.

If you ever used a quality slim tower coolers you know why they are good. Noctua U14S is better but 1.5 times more expensive on average. It's ultimately OPs decision but looking at his case it seems like he would appreciate a quiet build.

True, I opted for the quiet case but it's not a huge concern.

I'll look into upgrading the cooler at some point, after all I keep reading the EVO is mediocre at best.

Well it's known to do the job, that's why it's popular, but it does allow any flexibility with noise and overclocking. If you have a decent budget (and you do) I suggest spending about 45-50EUR on a decent cooler.
