    New PC build

Hi, I'm looking for a build for my first PC Build. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Budget - Around $1000
    Resolution - 1920x1080
Games / Settings Desired - Mainly WoW, NBA 2k17 when it comes out, some Witcher 3. Highest settings possible
Any other intensive software or special things you do (Frequent video encoding, 3D modeling, etc) - I'd like to do some occasional streaming.
    Country - U.S.
Parts that can be reused - None
Do you need an OS? Yes
Do you need peripherals (e.g. monitor, mouse, keyboard, speakers, etc)? No

I was looking at the gtx 1060 but not sure which specific card to go with. Any recommendations on a particular one? Thank you for your time.

    Thank you for the reply.

Is the MSI GeForce GTX 1060 Armor OC a solid choice for the 279.99?

Its ok but the gaming model is built quite a bit better. It usually in stock, shouldnt have to wait to long.

@OP make sure to avoid Sandisk Z400s SSDs, they are inferior to their competition in the price range. I think the dude that suggested it mixes them up with X400.

Wrong. Had both of them in hand, the only differences are the Armor version doesnt have a backplate, has only one additional power connector, uses older fans (which dont make any noticable difference, I have Twin Frozr II card and these are Twin Frozr V and VI respectively, aside from reliability the difference is not noticable) and doesnt have LED lights. It's still very well build, and will do just as good as a gaming version for anyone not going for a big OC.

Thank you for the replies. I was also wondering if I would need an aftermarket fan if I am going to OC my cpu? Not trying to OC a huge amount or anything as I am a novice.

The linked CPU includes no cooler; so you will need one.

It's in the build. This one will be enough for a beginner.

I don't have my gpu yet but the rest of the build is put together, should I wait to install my gpu before OCing my cpu?

I went with this build and I have everything installed except for the GPU(which arrives tomorrow). I wanted some input on a monitor. I was looking at a BenQ VZ2470H which is on sale for $180.00 at the moment. Would you recommend this monitor? I currently have an older ASUS VH236H and I'm not sure whether I should go up to 144HZ with my setup. If so I was looking at the AOC G2460PQU. Not trying to go above $250. Any input would be appreciated, thank you.

If i were you id buy a 144hz panel that has the ability to run lightboost in 2d mode, it mimics old school CRT smoothness. CHeapest one i know of is this:

Thank you. Is running one monitor at 144HZ and one at 60HZ ok?

No shouldn't be, you should be able to game in 144hz on one and do whatever on the other at 60.

I would not recommend to bother with 144Hz with your budget and I will explain why.

    1) 144Hz monitors are mostly helpful in FPS games where the smoothness allows you to react faster.
    2) You will never go above 100 fps with your specs on decent settings, so 144Hz monitors wont get you the full benefit.
    3) Lightboost is the only thing that will make a difference in picture quality in a 120Hz (Lightboost works between 100 and 120Hz refresh rates) vs 60Hz situation (it reduces motion blur) when your fps doesnt go above 60 but enabling it will also negatively affect your color profile and brightness. 120Hz Lightboost is also more taxing on the GPU than 60Hz, also the effect is barely noticable until you reach about 80-100 FPS.
    4) Lightboost is a technology tied to NVIDIA 3D Vision, so there are a few select 144Hz monitors that support Lightboost natively: BenQ XL series, ASUS VG series and Samsung 120Hz monitors. Some other monitors can be adjusted with specific software to enable Lightboost.

Don't listen to dude above, you would be happy with the monitor i linked lightboost is truly a revelation. And yes, there are plenty of spots in game you would be over 100 fps.....on 7 preset and with a gtx 760 even i get over 100 fps in a lot of spots in game.

He mentions budget and then links a 60hz panel that costs 30 dollars more than the 144hz panel i linked that supports lightboost lol.

Says the guy who doesnt own a 144Hz Lightboost monitor to the guy who does. We definetely need more of that.
