And that stupid mentality against adblock is possibly going to move a lot of sites in completely the wrong direction, into subscriber models.

I've got 4 extensions for my Chrome, and I only use it to visit 2 websites. One is for a particular game (so I don't have to use the FB portal for it) and the other is FB itself. I'm not seeing any ads on mine right now, but I'm not using ABP, just plain old AB. I don't even remember why I went back from ABP to AB but... there's that. (I use a script blocker for my other browser)

Going into that direction will be suicide for those companies....people will not subscribe/pay for anything that should be free information.

Good for them. Using a site isn't a right and Facebook ads are far from a nuisance.

This is off topic but is facebook still even a thing?

Ironically, just booked a few nights in Vegas because of a Facebook ad. I'd understand using an ad blocker on a poor UX or pixel manipulation site, but Facebook's advertisements, as well as Google, etc. are all quite minimalist. Was surfing for hotels in Vegas a few hours ago and it just so happened that Facebook knew damn well that The Cosmopolitan has a terrace and ambiance the others would love.

Yeah, they pretty much gapped multiple APIs and plugins throughout the internet, aggregated the internet into their feed, and diversified themselves extensively. I'm very surprised such a site is still alive... /facepalm

As long as youporn doesn't become subscriber model all is well.

Ditch the facebook altogether. Seriously how can you let a person who royally fucked his friends earn big bucks selling information about you.I'f I am a product being sold then i want my share lol.

I've never used facebook. And I can't think of a good reason to change that habit.

And don't ads increase the amount of bandwidth a person uses? (especially those stupid video ads)

Try this addon - Facebook Purity - http://www.fbpurity.com/install.htm
Be sure to install it from the actual page NOT the extension store, as that has a fake adware version.
Installing from their page is easy and it works.

There is an easy way to avoid all the ads on facebook, just don't go to that site.

Inc. gamers used to have an option where you could donate a small sum over a period of time, get elevated (visible) forum status and surf ad free on all their sites.
I am with you. I don't mind ads and was not using an ad block (I understand people have to use ad revenue to pay for their site). Then suddenly the ads got really aggressive with the things you mentioned (no obvious close button, taking you off site). They actually starting interfering with your navigation on the site. That is when I decided to use a blocker.

this is why i use adblock, i just turned my adblock of for 30seconds, and this is the shit mmo-c uses

yay for full page clickable ads

as for facebook, i rarely use it, so i probably wont download s specific thing like facebook purity for it, their ads are usually not as bad as mmo-c. mmo-c is the reason i use adblock.

mmo-c is kinda like a whorehouse where you have to wear a condom to simply enter or else risk getting something.

I am aghast at anyone using Facebook...at all for any reason.

Adguard works fine for chrome. XD

Until the advertising industry get its head out of its ass, adblock will continue to rise in popularity, I don't mind ads but my god these days ads have gotten beyond annoying they make your surfing experience a nightmare.

Ive always seen the ads because Im not scumbag who tries to deny websites the money they need to stay in business by using ad blockers. People who do that are just as bad as pirates, bootleggers, and Nigerian Princes

I sincerely hope Facebook takes a huge hit. Let those stocks tank to demonstrably show what people really think about those ads.

Really? WTF kinda shitty logic is that? Libertarian idiocy 101? That's the same thing as people refusing to see billboards or looking at ads in mags.
