Did Blizzard just hotfix an ilvl requirement onto Awakened LFR?

Back in the day, they were pretty much the authority on game mechanics, with their guys being the first ones to spot bugs and knowing stuff about the game often better than Blizzard themselves. Anything that was a consensus on EJ you could pretty much treat in-game as gospel and look smart to others with, but lately it seems they just faded into obscurity.

Forum became over-moderated, causing most valuable posters to slowly retract to other theorycrafting forums. Most casual players followed them.

The game has lost it's appeal to anyone who enjoyed raiding competition. Those people just stopped playing. Now it's just a sad shell of what it used to be.

Icy Veins seems to have replaced them, along with a few other sites. I find their site format a little easier to navigate.

Ahem. Let's bring this all together.
The GM of Elitist Jerks, Ion Hazzikostas, was hired by Blizzard as a developer. Some others might have been too, I dunno. Either way, at that point he could no longer be the GM of a high profile guild that does that much theorycrafting, so the project was shuttered. Icy-Veins is the place to go for that sort of information now.

He had built up a rep over the years prior to being hired for sussing out bugs in live raids and for min/maxing. If I am not mistaken, he was the guy who proved, with math, that C'thun, was broken and unbeatable. Could be wrong about that one, though.
