Gambling in game items are now illegal???

YouTuber Nepenthez charged over video game gambling site
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-37385555

The men were prosecuted for gambling and inviting children to gamble, the article also went onto parents should be careful of children being drawn into betting skins and other virtual goods such as weapons.

So even betting in game items are now illegal? I am sure nearly most guilds would do "gold rolls" during raiding down times and such, I guess those would be illegal too?

Not sure about legality, but those in-game gold casinos are against Blizzards terms. And usually the people in guilds who do that, some have bought gold from gold sellers, and now launder the money with their guild mates with the betting thing. So that's few more parts against the terms of service.

You link an article where some guys promote an illegal gambling site, and you compare it to betting gold on in-game items? Do you have any source suggesting betting on in-game items is illegal? If not, then this is a stupid slippery slope you're trying to start this thread down. (One action is illegal. The other isn't even mentioned, except by you.)

There was real money involved. It doesn't matter what objects or events being gambled to, if there's money involved, it's a legal matter, like all of those CSGO gambling sites.
