Didnt Texas want to leave a couple of months back? Pretty sure people in here said it was a law or a amendment against it?

Oh no I'm sure Trump will get right on busting up the evil democrats and ending the drought by telling the drought he's putting it on notice.

Yep the Electoral College is an awful system. It's not American that votes in different states have different value. And that goes for both sides. GL voting Democrat in Alabama, or Republican in Illinois. Why should a single person have a far more important vote simply because they live in Ohio or Michigan? It's about the least democratic thing in our system of government, and completely goes against the second paragraph of the Declaration of Independence that every man is created equal. In fact it's such a broken system with about 40 states dominated by 1 party and voting the same every single election, that really it's only the 5-10 swing states that actually select the President, the rest of us are just spectators.

And as far as California, Texas was threatening to secede before the election if Hillary won so complaining about it happening the other way now isn't surprising. It's all incredibly unlikely anyway, but it makes a good headline and discussion topic.

Yes they do. Did you miss the 8 years of Obama's presidency? And that was without democrats owning the entire government.

75% of the people behind these secession movements are trolls. Another 20% are in it for the joke. 5% are serious.

I've been using the idea as a joke for years. I did read a bit about it in the newspaper on the 8th though.

Symbolic voting is good enough if the end result is still there. My NorCal county went red for Trump and consistently sends Republican house reps.

It's more that the guy making blatant racist overtures, bragging about committing sex felonies, lying about things that don't even matter, praising freaking Russia, was elected. Doesn't matter what party he ran under.

The more people want to split from the US, the more you will end up with a US single-sided.

I'd move there immediately. California would would far more prosperous by itself than it would as part of the US, and by just about any metric it is the best place to live in the country except for the cost of living.

Fuck 'em. If they're seriously going to get that psychotically unhinged and triggered because of a vote I made, they're not worth knowing or worrying about in the first place.

    Wut?

California's economy briefly struggled while under Republican control. It's MORE than fine now. Texas...Texas is essentially a resource economy combined with heavy federal investments. It helps that it is business friendly, but by ABSOLUTELY NO MEANS IS IT BETTER THAN CALIFORNIA.

Circling the drain my ass. California still has the strongest economy in the United States and continues to post economic surpluses.
