How do you feel about R-Rated ads on wikias?

    Seriously.

Regardless of what you might assume, children use wikias as do most people out of info needs. Lately they've been more aggressive on enforcing no adblock, which I don't mind and just disabled. But then you get advertisements promoting stuff like Resident Evil 7 and 17+ TV shows. In regards to the Resident Evil one, it's very interactive to get people into the game. Keep in mind Resident Evil is a horror media franchise aimed at an 18+ audience since its inception.

Now isn't that stuff inappropriate for kids and scare the crap out of them, which in turn leads to parents getting involved? I don't know what they're thinking with these ads.

Can you post a link to an example? How can we be properly morally outraged if we don't see it?

I don't have the actual image but it's one of those GIF-like advertisements that you'd see for horror movies back in the day. It culminates in this

Was the wikia you were visiting remotely related to resident evil? or was it like a gardening wikia you were visiting?

i think you're being overly sensitive. you were sheltered, most kids are not, and in the modern world they're already seeing more r rated stuff from an earlier age. a couple scary images arent going to hurt or scar them. Only people i can see agreeing with you are helicopter parents.

plus if they are young enough where this would be totally inappropriate content, then their parents should be present monitoring their activity. so really its an issue with the parents if they are too young for it. if they are old enough not to be monitored then they're already seeing crazy shit on the internet.

That american obsession of micro managing everything related to children really does more harm than good

"Hey guys, let's censor the internet...for the childrens!" Nice try, but you can't fool us, Jack Thompson.

    Fixed that for you.

Why anyone would take this with any more seriousness as a Tennisface thread is beyond me.

Nothing. If the kid is using the computer, he also just could google for gore, porn or horror stuff.
Also I haven't seen a really gory/horror ad in the last years.

They are connected to the internet in the first place, which is in no way acceptable if you want to shield them from everything horrible. Where are the parents? If they need some info from a page like that they can just ask mom and print it for them. Oh wait, I forgot we abandon the young kids in front of the TV/tablettes/whatnot in this day and age and expect the rest of the world to take care of them.

    Jep.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinder...#United_States

Kinder Surprise eggs are legal in Canada and Mexico, but are illegal to import into the US. In January 2011, the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) threatened a Manitoba resident with a $300 (Canadian dollars) fine for carrying one egg across the US border into Minnesota.[16] In June 2012, CBP held two Seattle men for two and a half hours after discovering six Kinder Surprise eggs in their car upon returning to the US from a trip to Vancouver. According to one of the men detained, a border guard quoted the potential fine as US$2,500 per egg.
Kinder eggs seem to be a serious business in the US.

Don't break the law and play with something that's legal.

    Like loaded firearms for example

So how many of my fellow American children literally could not even when they saw a pair of digital boobs for the first time when they were 16 years old since the country does such a fine job of censorship?

Nope, that sort of thing doesn't bother me, essentially, at all. I'm even considered OCD.

Aren't those ads usually based on previous searches?
