Sure, but it would also not be the first time that top level management in a company kept the front of "business as usual" running while they fully planned on burning the entire thing to the ground and looting the corpse.

You of all people have enough complaints about these kinds of happenings in Corporate America, not sure why you're eager to give this occasion a pass just because it was a game you were emotionally invested in or something.

    see, i don't get this

i'm literally not doing anything of the sort, but because i'm not demanding steven hang for being already tried and found guilty of all these things people know, i'm defending/giving a pass/whatever

i'm literally not? where have i ever done that?

i've provided far more reasonable explanations with evidence that don't require secret-inner-workings-that-are-unverifiable or anything. could it all be a scam ultimately? sure! otherwise criminal? maybe! but from everything i've seen following this game from afar over the years (i do my best to keep an eye on quite a few in development/live mmos, i enjoy the genre even if i may not want to play those games) i see very little that indicates "scam!" with the project (beyond stevens absolutely questionable MLM background) and a helluva lot more that indicates the same kind of general "shitting the bed left and right because hardcore fans aren't necessarily the best people to lead complex projects and mmos in particular are incredibly challenging and expensive to make" that's befallen many other crowdfunded mmos before it

instead of actually having an argument to support the "it's a scam!" you accuse me of an emotional (or financial, maybe?) investment which exists only in your imagination. just "well it happens!" which like yeah...everything happens and can happen. that's not very convincing that it has happened

it's a shame that this isn't a big enough dumpster fire to get some credible journos to do some actual digging for a proper "what happened". it'd sure be interesting
Too broad a community. Not enough of any number of members in that community have a similar idea on the genre.

Sigh, these arguments get very easy.

Supposedly at some point control of the game, development ect ect was passed to 'a board'. And at no point was anyone informed of this board existing or them, and not Steve, having control.

Congratulations, your dream of independent game development is now a scam.
It ignores such insignificant forces as time, entropy, and death

If people throw there money in a kickstarter that is a scam if you only took a couple of seconds to think about, yes. I don't consider myself "clever and wise" for using common sense and a healthy dose of skepticism either. It is the old adage "A fool and his money are soon parted".

So you feel justified to laugh at them because you feel superior. Gotcha.

    Sad indeed.

I don't feel superior. I never feel superior. I laugh at myself when I do something stupid.

I never got to try it but very disappointing to see this happen, I always have been rooting for new mmo's - more competition and variety would always be great. I would have tried it on full release for sure.
