i actually think we should make more stone monuments that'll survive the eons. if we die and someone visits this planet, i want them to see evidence of our existence. not really to make sure our memory survives, but to give others a nice discovery and encourage their growth as a people. maybe we can figure out a way to make something electronic that'll last as long, so we can show the visitors things.

my personal rushmore though... idk. could do something silly, like bailey jay and some anime traps. for something serious, i'd include at least one native american i think, they deserve it, even though they've got the only other monument like this. richard dawkins, nikola tesla, and maybe carl sagan? some big science guy. not nye, he's sullied himself.

I always wondered if the artiist who created Mount Rushmore was scared about the idea one of the noses could fall off by using the hammer too intensively.

And if he abandonded his work to find a new mountain with more solid rock then.

If i remember correctly, it was 90%+/- done with Dynamite, the rest with jackhammers. on a 1-10 scale, with Diamond being a 10, Granite falls somewhere between a 6-7 and that's what the mountain it was carved from is made of, so there wasn't a big risk of an "oops".
