Why are monks so underrepresented in high M+

Looking at the following graphs we can see that monks are underrepresented in every role; what is the cause of this? Are they bad or just underplayed?

    The way I see it:
BM don't look that bad in the world of self-healing tanks in M+.
WW seem to be used mostly for the Fortified weeks, otherwise I don't think there is much reason to use them.
MW lack utility the other specs provide: they don't have battle res, interrupt, group wide speed boosts, immunities, etc.

    Regarding WW:
They could provide 10%+ movement speed due to the legendary ring.
And it's pretty ok on AoE, still

    Monks are underplayed in general

BRM needs BIS leggos to compete with other tanks. Chest + Shoulders give it an insane amount of trash dps but without them it's damage is below others They fotm now but are still recovering from the mass exodus at start of legion. Most still don't have have all bis leggos on them which is needed for high runs That said, BRM is the best of the three specs for higher keys.

WW has low survivability (important a lot of things just snap you in half), low single target dps and high aoe/cleave dps. Why bring it over arms, havoc or sub who have high aoe dps, high st and above average survival (except arms)

MW has no strong healing CDs no strong instant burst healing, no damage reduction CDs and low survivability. It's still Ok but rdruid/hpal do it better.

Before you could play great without tiers, they would just incrise your dps or whatever for the spec and not define the gameplay experience

Are you guys actually playing monks?

From a MW point of view, this. I played it a lot at the start of the expansion but dropped it for Holy Paladin. Also, the monk artifact ability is absolute dog ****

Monks have been one of the least played classes, even in MoP when they were new, though. And WoD really killed off a lot of people who had stuck with it so far.

Monks are underplayed. I take BRM over any other tank if i can get my hands on one

They are generally underplayed, especially at the high-end level in PvE - be it raids or m+.
[e] As for the why: Imo, (pure numbers wise) they're kept in the bottom half of the specs more or less all the time, the exception being BrM. Combine that with not so much utility and/or survivability as many other classes/specs, and people at the high-end level many times don't see a reason to invest much time in a monk. And BrM, even though really strong right now, still has one huge downside for m+: It's really dependent on the healer, or the geometry of the room.

I've been mistaken here, 25% it is with the leggo, 10% is static.

for me and WW its the lack of defense, outside of karma i was having to run away from packs and stand there waiting to be healed up far to often vs other melee like rogues who can facetank/ignore a lot of damage.

BrM i have no issues with and im loving it

    don't play MW n M+ to know.

I also play a aff lock and ranged have it waayyyyyyy to easy in M+

I think is only because is one of the least played classes. Just look at the number of people watching the Monk thread compared to other classes xD

I think Monks are absolute monsters in AoE and insane at trash mobs.

I'm pretty sure because my Demon Hunter with 890 ilvl does 250k DPS (lol, with tank gear and tank legendaries) and my alt Monk at 883 ilvl does almost 600k DPS in Mythic Dungeons.
    So...conclusion...Monks are awesome

That's what I was gonna say: underplayed.

I roll with a WW monk sometimes in high mythic+ and it's true, they are susceptible to damage, but they have the mobility to deal with every mechanic easily.

WW in High M+ is a ST machine with good AoE now, not an AoE specialist by any means.
We are good, we're very diverse and polyvalent in what we bring, but overall there's nothing flashy about it so people don't think about us much.

for me and WW its the lack of defense, outside of karma i was having to run away from packs and stand there waiting to be healed up far to often vs other melee like rogues who can facetank/ignore a lot of damage.
Our survability is amongst the best of any melee. OPnly rogues beat us there. Karma / Diffuse / Trasncendance heal / mobility are some of the best tools to survive in dungeons.
Also, 8y FoF makes it very easy to damage mobs from a safe distance when you need to. We can dart in and out of cleave range a lot.
