    Let's talk Elite Specializations.

Hello champions! Good to see you all.

So, at this point, we already know what Elite Specializations are: Sub classes that change your style of gameplay "on demand".

Do you think that they're well implemented? Which one is your favourite? What would you suggest as a new elite spec for your favourite profession?

I liked Spellbreaker because it has a bit of gw1 mesmer and holosmith because the new mechanic seems cool.

For mesmer I would like to see something along the lines of gw1 domination, since mechanic wise gw1 is different from gw2, remove the whole phantasm and clones fest and replace it with skills that do the following:
    if you interrupt steal boons/endurance
remove a condition from target foe, deals 500 damage to that foe for each condition removed.
a condition that deals damage everytime foe evades
a condition that makes next skill fail
a condition that deals damage every time foe gains a boon
a condition that interrupts foes when it's applied and when it ends

Granted, I play GW2 just here and there and am far from an expert. But, not to be negative, they seem a bit dull to me. I dislike the Scourge the most ... seems so far off class identity. I dunno.

I feel like the elite specs are either really far ahead of the regular specs or they just don't fit the class fantasy at all. Reaper basically was the reason I started playing necro, but dragonhunter for guardian just feels out of place. Hopefully the new elite specs are going to be even better.

I'm excited play around with the Mirage and scourge this weekend.

I actually think Scourge completes the Necro. Necro is already a strong offensive/tanky class when it comes to solo and pvp/wvw. Does well enough in fractals too. Raids, not so much but who cares if you don't need to run a meta comp.

Scourge gives the class the option to play support and addons to old necro themes such punishing players that tried to stack boons/remain stationary while fighting a necro.

Mirage looks like a fun spvp/roaming build.

Weaver, really excited for this spec. I really like melee ele and the element change reminds of when I used to play a lot of thief.

Spellbreaker looks like a good counter pick in spvp/wvw. It actually might not be too bad of a pick in PVE.

I hope people don't call deadeye to be nerfed for what it is, a long range nuke that you have to look out for. I don't have a problem with long range glass cannons as long as they readibly die due to counter-play. If I catch a deadeye slipping it should die if I can get to it with easy to moderate difficulty. If a deadeye player is good at staying back and keeping their distance then I have no problem with them melting people. Going to interesting if they can be worked into WvW guild comps.

Not to excited about the others because they are part of classes that I don't play too often.

Deadeye looks great. Can't wait to play it. Been lacking a real ranged nuke option on Thief for too long.

My current issue is everyone screaming scourge is going to be low dps.

Well... duh.. it's a support spec...do people not fucking pay attention

and it's annoying me WP started that crap rumor about cond reaper being reworked for power because scourge is gonna be the condition spec. BITCH IT'S A SUPPORT SPEC STFU

these new dps meters have gotten out of hand, I'm glad that one guy got banned but they need to kill the other meter.

Scourge is actually a p powerful condi spec though.
If you are particularly bold, you could use a Shiny Ditto. Do keep in mind though, this will infuriate your opponents due to Ditto's beauty. Please do not use Shiny Ditto. You have been warned.

Tempest was also supposed to be a support spec and they have clearly low dps... That's probably why people are saying that.

Also some people are worried because you don't need HoT for PoF but when new raids will come out nothing seems to be as effective as Chrono to tank and nothing seems as effective as Druid to heal in the new Elites. i.e. You'll still need HoT if you want to be competitive to the top.

Thief specialisation is very boring and basic. I've yet to unlock all talents though, so don't have the dodge increase damage ability yet.

It also doesn't feel right using a staff.

I wholeheartedly disagree with you in this one. Daredevil is my favourite class in Guild Wars 2. The Staff gameplay is awesome, dodging feels natural and great, and spamming 5 to clear mobs is always rewarding. My opinion, though.

Yet to be seen. Just because it's default option is condition doesn't mean it's powerful. Look at chrono strong spec but its damage isn't great.

Also the only viable weapons for scourge is scepter and staff to go with torch. The traits are so condition focus, even the minor traits, that running axe or dagger would be stupid. Terrible decision imo. Chrono can run both power and condition because traits are pretty neutral but not with scourge.

I can see Scourge condi in pvp/wvw depending on how strong its boon corruption is.

From what I'm reading, just from the traits...
    Shade Savant
    Unending Corruption

Corrupt 3 boons in a 300 area on a 10 second cooldown. On its own, that's exceptional.

Someone got triggered hard? eh buddy? meters are good for at least knowing how well you can perform at ideal points, the tools are fucking useful.
Cod has a new campaign, new weapons, new multiplayer levels every year. Zelda has been recycling the same weapons, villains, and dungeons since the 80's. Zelda recycles enough to make cod blush. The same weapons, villains, dungeons, and princess in every single Zelda for the most part. It's almost as cheesy as bowser vs Mario round 35

no they have gotten to the point where it checks other players in your group and determines their "dps" and now people want dps checks for fractals raids etc when people did those just fine without the meters but it has turned into the meter cancer where people kick people because of a meter

I also dislike the idea of DPS Meters. They're useful, I agree, but they also close the minds of players that depend too much on it. You start sorting people because of this - I get it, you want the best of the best in your team, but you're also excluding players that want to play the content with you - Just because some numbers aren't high enough.

It's not just that, the whole dps meter is a ridiculous motion for other things. I could literally just troll, equip the best stats and utility's then switch it half way through and I doubt anyone would notice or even ya know not do anything period but still could theoretically do "35k dps" except if you die you instantly don't do dps and you're doing worse damage than a chronomancer.

The whole concept is stupid over content where doing the most dps does not matter

I remember before the fractal changes I did level 40 or w/e in masterwork gear on my mesmer and never died except on the lost boss where there was an agony check but my team just revived me. The game does not need the wow mindset of optimal dps. If you get gud you'll still succeed.

Ohh that is good. Wonder how Scourge works with death shroud traits.
