    Pretty much this.

FFXIV was a fun game for the most part. Leveling isn't too bad (I think WoW leveling was better) but the fact that you can switch jobs on the fly is really nice.

Unique play styles? Are you sure you’re playing FF14?

If the FF14 community has you that shaken, I’d advise staying in whatever box you’re in...or at least avoid the internet as a whole.

As I said. Just sounds like they or a friend was asked to off dps as a healer, refused and were kicked from content.

    So basically nothing at all.

He was right thought. I've played ffxiv, wow, aion, guild wars, everquest and swtor and ffxiv had the absolute most garbage community by a huge margin.

lolwut? FFXIV for me was the first MMO I've played were very few people even mentioned my playstyle. The fact it doesn't have "allowed" DPS meters also means anyone that hassles you over DPS/how you play you can straight up report and they will be banned.

It's weird how we have the complete opposite experience in the same game.

I've never seen that in FFXI or WoW.
Once again, literally never saw this and I was in a massive guild doing OSV4. Maybe it was just your guild? or maybe I never experienced it because I was an actual good player. But then again I never even saw bad players get threatened or yelled at.

FFXIV is literally the friendliest online game I've ever played.

Wtf. I feel like it is just you guys being horrible people then getting shitty when people tell you to get lost.

    You can play both.

However, both games don't have anything new.
The same thing over and over.

Ok. Then explain how it was garbage unlike the other poster who was very vague if you want to discuss it.

Give me an honest example of something that happened. Let me actually try and help you and see the situation.

The other person gave me no fair example other than vague statements of being "threatened" or friends being "threatened" and judging by the posts it says to me that the person or a friend was asked to off dps in end game content as a healer or use DPS stance as a tank and refused.

I've played a bit during the launch (ARR) and during the first expansion launch... I mostly stopped because there was a lot less content that wow, quests were clunky, fates are longer WQ.

I don't know about the current state of the game but the lack of good raid content was the problem. Yes the story and the design of raids was cool but most bosses had no/stupid/insane strategy.

People always cry about the grind in wow, its (or was?) a lot worse in ff14

And I tried to play healer (whm)... that 2second GCD is just a no no. Keep in mind that people are actually playing... with a controller

Fates were an awesome idea but were not very efficient. The "large-scale" ones are really neat but you rarely ever saw people do those beyond ARR. I do agree that the grind was worse too.

If FFXIV did not have a great community it would have failed years ago.

The content never changes, we are getting close to the third expansion and it's exact the same game and content roll outs.

So are you actually going to give one of your examples of this "awful community" or not?

    Vague statements help nothing.

Obviously no names but any singular example. All you've said is the community is awful without going into depth why or how it was awful to you.

So is most games to be fair. Either the same content or mix up previous expansions content and create a new version. Or games borrow from each other.

Azerite? Just tier sets at it's core and a worse version of Artifacts imo.

Planar Attunement? Alternate Advancement at it's core

Masteries in GW2? Literally GW2s own version of Planar Attunement in a way as you earn post 80 XP however the Masteries are not power related.

Every game either uses previous expansion stuff or borrows from other games.

You felt I was a horrible person. I don't know how I can convince you otherwise. I'm one of the nicest people you're likely to meet. I've had conversations in-game and on forums for every game that I've played and of course, every game has trolls or people with "issues" (lack of a better word) and you learn how to deal with them. I personally ignore trolls and angry people while others feed into them. I'm glad you find it the friendliest and you have a good experience but from my many years of experience, I found it to be trash.

And again. How did you find it to be trash? What specifically? Were you told to off DPS as a healer and didn't? Because that's not a trash community. That is common sense on playing a job at endgame.

Are you actually going to go into detail or not?

You're absolutely right, in the case where someone is just an instigator by nature. I see them here and there. Pretty much all of the conflict I've seen isn't even my own. I read the forums and other community sites often and the way people talk to others is just sad. Granted, it's not exclusive to that this game so don't get me wrong as I've been around wow long enough.

Yeah I forgot this lack of meters.... its stupid, because I use dps meter in wow as it's meant to be... a way to see if my upgrades/playstyle is efficient or not.
Thats one of the reason I stopped raiding after 1 week on the highest difficulty... it was impossible to see who was doing his/her job or not....

And sorry but I don't like to play with clueless players won't dont know what they're doing, I dont want to "respect" them for being clueless. In the age of internet, anyone can at least read a guide.

So basically you took 1 look at Reddit and decided "AWFUL COMMUNITY"?

Seems we got that out of the way. You judge a community by a site that is known for being a cesspit of people.

So not only have you not provided your own personal experience of "awful community". You don't have one and are using reddit as some makeshift victim card play. A site known for it's toxicity in some areas.

I mean if you are going to victim card at least play it on yourself rather than an external source. That's just even more pathetic.

FF Logs is used these days.

And you can use an unofficial DPS meter just don't use it to give people shit about their DPS.

It isn't impossible, there are parsing/combat log programs, you just aren't allowed to talk about them or link them in chat to berate people. My FC used them a lot for our progression, but you never use them with pugs.
