Guy must have a big dick no?
Guy must have a big dick no?
but not nervous enough to lose some fucking weight.
that thing is a walking beetus bomb
Thanks, my choice is that when doctors studying obesity find that it is a complex issue and list a variety of factors (of which you have seized on just one) that contribute, I think I'll listen to actual science. Appeals to common sense tend to be simplistic, for example their use in the climate change debate. Genetics may not neatly follow national borders. They can, however, explain various predispositions. What follows national borders would be other factors such as availability of medical care or use of certain prescription meds.Originally Posted by Akka
Here's the expanded list from the link I posted, and even it is still partial. For example, they don't mention prescription meds.
Source: https://www.ucsfhealth.org/conditions/obesity/Obesity is a complex and chronic disease with many causes. It is not simply a result of overeating. Research has shown that genetics can play a significant role in determining a person's body weight, particularly for morbidly obese people. Diet and exercise may have a limited ability to provide effective, long-term relief for obese people.
Factors such as the environment, metabolism, eating disorders and certain medical conditions also may contribute to obesity.
Genetics
Research has shown that a person's genes play an important role in their tendency to gain weight. Just as some genes determine eye color or height, others affect appetite, ability to feel full or satisfied, metabolism, fat-storing ability and even natural activity levels.
Environment
Environmental and genetic factors are closely intertwined. If you have a genetic predisposition towards obesity, the modern American lifestyle and environment may make controlling weight more difficult.
Fast food, long days sitting at a desk and suburban neighborhoods that require cars exacerbate hereditary factors such as metabolism and efficient fat storage. For those suffering from morbid obesity, anything less than a total change in environment usually results in failure to reach and maintain a healthy body weight.
Metabolism
We used to think that a person could lose weight if they burned more calories than they consumed. Now we know that for some people, it's not that simple.
Obesity researchers now refer to a theory called the "set point," a sort of thermostat in the brain that makes people resistant to either weight gain or loss. If you try to override the set point by drastically cutting your calorie intake, your brain responds by lowering metabolism and slowing activity. You then gain back any weight you lost.
Eating Disorders
Many obese and morbidly obese people suffer from eating disorders. In these cases, behavior and diet modification therapy are recommended to help treat the eating disorder before weight loss surgery is considered.
There also are certain medical conditions, such as hypothyroidism, that can cause weight gain and may be treated with medication.

With COVID-19 making its impact on our lives, I have decided that I shall hang in there for my remaining days, skip some meals, try to get children to experiment with making henna patterns on their skin, and plant some trees. You know -- live, fast, dye young, and leave a pretty copse. I feel like I may not have that quite right.
You're probably getting me mixed up with another poster then. I consider myself more or less apolitical since I've lived outside of the US/EU political scene for coming up on 20 years, but I'm probably considered center left more than center right. Rather than derail this thread further with a political discussion, feel free to PM me if you'd like to follow up.Originally Posted by AeneasBK

Tbh the only reason I never date or have sex with fat chicks is that I'm paranoid she will break my penis or something else. As a slim fit guy, ~65kg I'm sure the girl in the picture is double my weight and can break something in me. I can't even imagine how "cowgirl" could be done with her, me supporting her 120kg....ewww...and....ufff, must feel like a gym session!
Except even societies with very close level of medical care can have simple to triple obesity rate. Neighbouring countries.
Common sense can be misleading, but basic logical link still works.
Also, I was already aware of all the data you're posting. That genetics have an influence is Captain Obvious territory. That their influence is very secondary compared to lifestyle is another one. In fact, first part you bolded is about lifestyle mainly, while the second is about bad methods to lose weight, not genetics having a big influence (yes, if you starve yourself, then the body enters panic mode and will reduces body metabolism as much as possible and will store as much as possible as soon as you start eating again, that's basic stuff anyone with a bit of biology knowledge should know).
Listing actual science is good, understanding it is better.
Well, get back to me when you do. You still set yourself up as if you understand more than the doctors who work in the field, and you try to massage things into your narrative without providing any actual support.Originally Posted by Akka

I love the "won the internet" claim as it directly sees the futility of the cause. It's a direct call of victory over the masses which is so counter to internet culture. Also, it concludes that people all over like fat canvasses which denies the very stark reality of social opinion.
Keep printing head lines only true in your fantasy world I guess.
I find this about as sensual and lovely as getting blasted by a water cannon in winter.
What I don't get is this widespread desire to shit on other people. I mean, why do you get so riled up about this? Just fucking live and let live. It's none of your business.
I don't know what this thread is about, I'm just skipping to the end to complain about the shitty bait title.
I think it's more that there have been like 100 threads similar to this one, and people are getting annoyed.
And there's always a stupid point or reasoning that you can find in these. Here's the stupid for this case:
I guess being fat is a mystery that you just have to accept for yourself, right?“I remember being in junior high and looking at myself in the mirror, wondering why my stomach wasn’t the way it was ‘supposed’ to be,” she told HuffPost. “Over the years, I’ve come to accept that I am always going to be considered plus-size.
