I saw a different thread today where someone - I think it was Endus - posted a link that was meant to illustrate that some other figure was surely, absolutely racist (I'll withhold the name because that's OT for this thread). There was a hell of a lot of text in the proof link, but I stopped reading after the first 4 or 5 screens because all I was seeing purported as prima-facie proof is "he is friends with that other guy / gal who is assuredly racist".

If you're gonna name-drop me, have the common decency to actually link to the post you're talking about.

I know it makes it more difficult to make up horseshit like this and get away with it, but hey, you're the one choosing to serve up the steaming pile of manure as if it's haute cuisine.

Nope. Just recently 4 kids spray painted their school with at least 100 tags of graffiti which included swatikas, homophobic slurs, racial slurs and specifically calling the principal by name (who is black) the N word.

They claim they aren't racist, it was just a "senior prank". A bunch of people come together to support them, and there is this effort to defend them as not racist just because they say "we're not racist".

If you want an honest answer from a non-Trumpublican, but much more Rep than Dem, then the accusations of racism and sexism stopped working years ago because they were and remain overused and overexaggerated. I didn't see the specific tweets of Trump which were the reason for the latest accusation, but after seeing like a hundred of such accusations in racism / fascism / being anti-Islamic and anti-feminist and whatever before, I am pretty prepared to see something perhaps dumb, and perhaps kind of possibly able to be coerced by a willing mind to be construed as kind of somewhat maybe I don't know even what to call it anymore - not politically correct. But not much else.

I constantly see someone call something racist racist and then a bunch of conservatives come in with the "See now that word doesn't mean anything anymore because you use it for everything." No calling something racist racist is appropriate. Very rarely will I agree with a conservative on if something is racist or not. You need to fix that radically high bar you hold that nothing can be racist unless you are actively working to exterminate an entire race.

Now I've got a hot take on this particular issue after some thought, but I think it would be somewhat disingenuous to claim every member of the party are Racist, just that they don't care that their policies are. While I've not doubt that there's some deep roots in old school racism in the actual GoP leadership and a not-insignificant chunk of its voters, to me it just feels like the platform of the broader party these days is more about 'Making sure the Left doesn't win' or 'Keeping things as they are!', which just happens to include being overtly shitty to swaths of our population.

It's what you see here with people who I actually don't think are racist bending themselves into pretzels to justify the Border Camps or Trump's stupid statement; they're evasive about justifying the actual policies because there's no winning argument, but it's better to be in their camp then to ever actually be seen agreeing with a 'Libtard' on anything or decrying their leadership. Because expanding ones perspective leads to questioning the other stupid, shitty things your camp's done, which ruins the cozy little nook they've made for themselves.

Those comments are right from the racist playbook that a lot of minorities have faced whether they are a first generation American or their ancestry has been in America for over 200 years.
