The Justice Department has declined to prosecute Attorney General William Barr and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross for allegedly stonewalling congressional probes into the Trump administration's efforts to place a citizenship question on the 2020 census, the agency said Wednesday.

The House last week voted mostly along party lines, 230-198, to hold Barr and Ross in criminal contempt of Congress for defying congressional subpoenas, in a largely symbolic effort. House Democrats were seeking information about Trump's efforts to add the controversial question.

Haha! You are boasting that the DOJ won't bring charges against the guy running the DOJ. Plus enough layers down where it shows they are part of Trump protection.

I know you won't agree but Barr has made it clear he does not care about rule of law.

So back in February Trump proved how good of a negotiator he was by giving up and going home. Again. This time, it was auto emissions. Specifically, ending the Obama-era plans to have emissions minimums slowly rise over time (which he directed the EPA to do, so that's already done), and getting California to drop their special, higher requirements.

California refused. Trump was unable to get them to agree. So instead, he directed the EPA to just remove California's special rules directly.

    "Wait, I thought state's rights -- "

You're still surprised the Party of Trump is full of massive hypocrites? Also, it's not just California, 19 other states follow their rules.

That was February. The story hasn't moved much until this morning, when four large automakers bypassed Trump and worked with California directly, Meaning that, even if Trump's EPA is somehow able to remove California's state's rights rules (this seems highly unlikely), it would no longer matter anyhow.

It should be noted that a lot of car markets out there have some strict requirements. According to this page which looks official to me, in 2021, the standard will be 4.1 liters per 100 km. This is way closer to California's 36 miles per gallon than the other 30 states' collective 27 miles per gallon average.

Developing story: Trump friend and serial child rapist Epstein found in his jail cell with marks on his neck.

Possible attack by another inmate. Possible suicide attempt. Possible faked suicide attempt to get transferred. No, that's not my conjecture, that's from one of the sources NBC talked to.

Not that I want to see this, or almost any, issue resolved with violence or death but...hey @cubby does lawyer-client confidentiality survive the client's death?

We've seen that Trump doesn't give pardons to friends of his that get caught.

But, that's not important right now. This is:

    "The fuck is that?"

That's a Fake Presidential Seal, one that Team Trump "accidentally" (I believe them, I think they got trolled) put up on the wall. Yes, the eagle is holding golf clubs.

"But the eagle has two heads! That's Russia!"

You're missing the point. The golf clubs are the point. It's a brilliant satire of Trump's attempt to host G7 at --

"Holy shit, Trump posted a Russian eagle? He can't even count to two?"

You're really not focusing. The golf clubs --

"The Latin's not even right! As es un titere? That's not even Latin!"

    Um...that's not As, that's a 45.

"That's Spanish! 45 is a tyrant! How the fuck did Trump not notice?"

Okay, let's be fair: Trump wasn't paying attention. Why would he? The seal isn't his concern. The Trump brand is. It's just further demonstration that...you know what, this is an @Edge- thing. Fire it up!

The fake eagle also hold dollar bills in the left claw

Richard Painter, who served as the chief White House ethics lawyer for President George W. Bush from 2005 to 2007, said the president’s staff should typically have advance knowledge and command over images and video displayed at events where the president appears.

    He called the incident “careless.”

“You should have control over what the private group is doing, what they’re putting on the screen and anything else,” said Painter, now a law professor at the University of Minnesota. “To let someone project something on the screen that isn’t controlled by the White House is pretty stupid.”

While we were distracted yesterday with the Mueller testimony, a New York judge says a lawsuit can go forward against Trump and his children for a pyramid scheme. They escaped racketeering charges but a class action lawsuit is going forward.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - A federal judge on Wednesday said U.S. President Donald Trump and his adult children must face part of a lawsuit alleging they used their family name to promote sham marketing opportunities, but dismissed racketeering claims at the center of the case.

FILE PHOTO: Pedestrians walk past and take pictures in front of Trump Tower on 5th Avenue in the Manhattan borough of New York City, New York, U.S., April 18, 2019. REUTERS/Caitlin Ochs
U.S. District Judge Lorna Schofield in Manhattan said the plaintiffs, including investors in a Trump-endorsed business called American Communications Network, could pursue state law-based claims of fraud, false advertising and unfair competition.

But the judge dismissed claims under the federal racketeering law known as RICO because of a lack of evidence that the Trumps’ alleged misconduct was the proximate cause of, or directly related to, the investors’ alleged losses.

She said the losses could have simply reflected “the inherent challenges of multi-level marketing,” including the ability to sell products and recruit new marketers or a lack of customer demand.

ACN charged $499 for a chance to sell videophones and other goods.

The plaintiffs claimed that the Trumps received millions of dollars of secret payments from 2005 to 2015 to endorse ACN and conned them into thinking Donald Trump thought their investments would pay off, when the real goal was to enrich themselves.

Other defendants included Trump’s adult children Donald Jr., Eric and Ivanka, and an affiliate of the Trump Organization.

“We are delighted by the court’s decision,” Joanna Hendon, a lawyer for the Trumps, said in an interview. “The RICO claims were baseless and should never have been brought, and we look forward to dispensing with the rest of the case.”

Roberta Kaplan, a lawyer for the plaintiffs, said in an email she looked forward to continuing the case “to obtain justice for the plaintiffs, and thousands of other working Americans just like them, who each lost hundreds or thousands of dollars as a result of the defendants’ fraudulent scheme.”

In seeking a dismissal, the Trumps called the lawsuit politically motivated, with funding from a nonprofit linked to progressive causes, and said Donald Trump’s statements about ACN were merely opinion or could not be relied on by the investors.

Hendon said in a July 19 letter that the Trump family expects to ask Schofield to move the plaintiffs’ claims into arbitration, even if the lawsuit were not dismissed.

Kaplan accused the Trumps in a response later that day of pursuing a strategy of “heads-they-win, tails-they-seek-arbitration.”

The case is Doe et al v Trump Corp et al, U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York, No. 18-09936.

Probably because they ran on goddam steam.

This completely fits Trump's marketing strategy as demonstrated by Trump Steaks, Trump Airlines and Trump Vodka. But at some point, you have to either admit you're incompetent, or admit you're a criminal. For example, look at this:

A dozen Republican members of Congress sent President Trump a previously undisclosed letter on Tuesday urging him to delay the Pentagon's plan to award a $10 billion cloud computing contract to a single company.

The letter, obtained by Axios, argues that awarding the contract would be "premature" given the Defense Department's Office of Inspector General is still investigating potential conflicts of interest with those involved in the negotiations. The letter strikes a contrast with a ruling from a federal judge earlier this month, which found that allegations that DoD employees unfairly favored Amazon Web Services for its Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure (JEDI) cloud computing program were meritless.
Yep, that's yet more conflicts of interest. Even Trump has voiced skepticism, but he hasn't stopped it yet.

    Or this:

The Committee has obtained direct evidence that multiple high-level White House officials have been violating the Presidential Records Act by using personal email accounts, text messaging services, and even encrypted applications for official business — and not preserving those records in compliance with federal law. What we do not yet know is why these White House officials were attempting to conceal these communications. Although our Committee’s investigation began as a bipartisan inquiry under former Chairmen Chaffetz and Gowdy, the White House has refused to produce a single piece of paper in this investigation for this entire year, which is why today’s subpoena has become necessary.

Yep, that's Trump pulling a "but her emails!" except of course trying to block it, because it's okay when he does it. This very likely stems from the Trump family using a non-official source for official communication, either intentionaly to avoid oversight or because Trump CBA to learn a new app.

Or this top 11 list of favors Trump has done for the Saudis. While in the Oval Office.

At some point, you have to accept (pretending or not) that Trump didn't accidentally trip and fall into all these problems: arranging a defense contract even he doesn't seem to like, not just refusing to follow mandatory recording laws but blocking any attempt to make him, and of course doing favors from his office because the Saudis gave him money and said he had a big penis. At some point, that kind of behavior piles up and nobody could be that stupid.

Oh, and before anyone tries to defend that...all of those stories broke an hour ago. A random-ass Thursday afternoon.

Oh they will Trumpkins run off of lies and ignorance. Hypocrisy, shame, and decency are foreign words in their mental dictionary and they are proud of it. Trump even said he could shoot somebody in broad daylight and Trumpkins wouldn't care because nothing matters over winning. Morals, ethics, values, laws, the whole damn system our government runs on can all burn to the ground for all they care. As long as they win or perceive themselves as winning then the entire world can be naught but ash and death and they will be content.
