LOL. He got owned. Because he can't prove that Biden got him on the board, can't prove that Biden was doing anything illegal, because that is almost always what is linked to "corruption". And then I showed him that all of the Trump children but Barron and Tiffany are probably more corrupt than Joe or Hunter is.

Oh this is a fun link of the same graph with animation as you watch the tax rate on the wealthy from the 1950's move steadily down.

The term you're looking for is "root cellar". It's where you store turnips.

    BUT!

Breaking news, the lawsuit Trump has filed to keep his NYState taxes from the hands of NYState prosecutors has just been dismissed.

I trust NYState officials as far as most officials -- i.e. pretty well -- but these things are too hot to handle. Someone's going to do the wrong thing, and leak them. Shame on them, that's illegal.

I will, however, be waiting right here to see what they actually say when that happens.

BREAKING: White House: Turkey will soon invade Northern Syria, casting uncertainty on fate of Kurdish fighters allied with US. https://t.co/QEYoZDWGbk
    https://twitter.com/AP/status/1181051667120316418?s=19

An oh btw, which should have its own thread is a major US policy shift. @UnifiedDivide did post and cheers to this.

Basically Trump is withdrawing US troops who supported the Kurds in northern Iraq, allowing Turkey to proceed with moving troops against the Kurds.

Again no rhyme or reason why besides of course Trump twitter. Anything from Trump corruption to Putin.

Let's add to the list. For some reason, I get the feeling today's going to be a long day.

The White House on Sunday night said Turkey will soon be launching a military operation in northeastern Syria and that U.S. troops will no longer be "in the immediate area" when it happens.

    Bolton's been gone for...how long?

"Turkey will soon be moving forward with its long-planned operation into Northern Syria. The United States Armed Forces will not support or be involved in the operation, and United States forces, having defeated the ISIS territorial 'Caliphate,' will no longer be in the immediate area," White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham said in a statement.

The announcement comes hours after President Trump held a phone call with Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in which the two reportedly discussed the conflict and agreed to a meeting in Washington in November.
Well, @Skroe got any comments? @Skroe? Oh, right. Um...let's throw the question open to the class, shall we? Who has comments?

It's time for Mass Guess the Speaker!

Donald Trump is not a Commander-in-Chief. He makes impulsive decisions with no knowledge or deliberation. He sends military personnel into harm’s way with no backing. He blusters and then leaves our allies exposed when adversaries call his bluff or he confronts a hard phone call.

Turkey has neither the intent, desire, nor capacity to manage 60k detainees in al Hol camp, which State and DoD IGs warn is the nucleus for a resurgent ISIS. Believing otherwise is a reckless gamble with our national security.”

Tonight is a sad replay but seems even worse as US officials had since convinced the SDF that we planned to stay.

There’s a similar defect at the core of US foreign policies across the board: maximalist objectives for a minimalist president combined with no process to assess facts, develop options, or prepare contingencies. Our personnel are left exposed at the slightest moment of friction,
I don’t know all the details regarding President Trump’s decision in northern Syria. In process of setting up phone call with Secretary Pompeo. If press reports are accurate this is a disaster in the making.

Ensures ISIS comeback. Forces Kurds to align with Assad and Iran. Destroys Turkey’s relationship with U.S. Congress. Will be a stain on America’s honor for abandoning the Kurds.

Also, if this plan goes forward will introduce Senate resolution opposing and asking for reversal of this decision. Expect it will receive strong bipartisan support.

This to me is just unnerving to its core
XXX told Fox News the decision amounts to a propaganda victory for China and Russia, saying those countries can tell would-be U.S. partners that America will abandon them.

“No one will ever partner with us again,” XXX said.

As for Turkey's intentions with the Kurds, XXX said: “They are going to slaughter those cats.”
If reports about US retreat in #Syria are accurate, the Trump administration has made a grave mistake that will have implications far beyond Syria.

It would confirm Iran’s view of this administration & embolden then to escalate hostile attacks which in turn could trigger much broader & more dangerous regional war.
Can you guess which one is Hillary Clinton, warhawk?

Having trouble? Good. Because it was none of them.

The first one is Brett McGurk, who was Trump's ISIS special envoy.

McGurk also said Trump made a “similarly impulsive decision” when he served in the administration, which led to his resignation.
More information about McGurk's resignation here.

The second is Lindsey Graham, who expressed his frustration (while I was banging his wife in the shower) by calling FOX and Friends. Because that's how you get Trump's attention. By going on fucking TV.

    Wanna see the video?

The third one is "One U.S. commander who helped lead the anti-ISIS effort". Yes, FOX News uses anonymous sources. All media does, it's part of the process. Only a hypocrite would say "anonymous sources aren't real" and still watch FOX News, then, right?

Oh, and FOX News also quoted this tweet for me:

The Kurds fought with us, but were paid massive amounts of money and equipment to do so. They have been fighting Turkey for decades. I held off this fight for almost 3 years, but it is time for us to get out of these ridiculous Endless Wars, many of them tribal, and bring our soldiers home. WE WILL FIGHT WHERE IT IS TO OUR BENEFIT, AND ONLY FIGHT TO WIN. Turkey, Europe, Syria, Iran, Iraq, Russia and the Kurds will now have to figure the situation out, and what they want to do with the captured ISIS fighters in their 'neighborhood
I don't have to tell you who that is, I assume.

    And the fourth? That's Rubio.

"Hey Breccia, why did you put Rubio last?"

Because USA Today was also kind enough to quote this:
Thank you Prime Minister Erdogan for joining us yesterday to celebrate the launch of #TrumpTowers Istanbul!

"Yesterday" is April 19, 2012. And this:

Just left Istanbul, Turkey, yesterday where #TrumpTowers was just opened--magnificent!
That's Ivanka and Trump, of course. See, a lot of Presidents wouldn't have to say "my political decisions about Turkey had nothing to do with my business ventures in Turkey". The Trump family has to at least say that.

    "Damn. Oh, you mentioned Clinton?"

    Oh, right.

Let us be clear: The president has sided with authoritarian leaders of Turkey and Russia over our loyal allies and America’s own interests. His decision is a sickening betrayal both of the Kurds and his oath of office.

Now I'm sure there are some people in the rabid fanbase who want to knee-jerk and say "literal devil stroke victim corrupt Clinton is wrong!" but um...compare what she says to the GOP members above, including one current and one former Trump hire. Then try that statement again.

Are we tired of winning yet?

Well hold on. There is reason. It's just not enough.

Trump has made it clear on multiple occasions that he wants to withdraw from the Middle East in general -- except Iran -- and Syria he wants to cede to the Russians. See "McGurk" above. So his motive actually makes sense. I disagree with it, but at least it's consistent.

But the "fuck it, drop everything and run" late-night Sunday announcement of policy by tweet is still wrong for all the obvious reasons.

You want rhyme and reason, Obama would have composed a sonnet. Trump just wrote a dirty limerick. In Sharpie.

    WAIT I forgot part:

Trump pulls back troops from northern Syria ahead of Turkish assault, Pentagon officials 'blindsided'

    Emphasis mine.

The decision sent shockwaves through the region and Washington, with U.S. officials telling Fox News that top Pentagon officials were “completely blindsided” and “shocked” by the order to pull back hundreds of U.S. troops, a move that effectively green-lights the Turkey operation. President Trump spoke with Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan by telephone.
    And this headline too:

Turkey's Syria incursion may allow ISIS to attempt mass prison break amid US withdrawal, Kurdish fighters warn

And this one, which I admit isn't FOX News, but they did reference it:

Report Warns ISIS is “Resurging” in Syria After Trump Ordered a Partial Troop Withdrawal

That's August 8th, but, boy does it seem relevant now.

A report released this week by the Department of Defense’s Inspector General indicates that ISIS continues to pose a significant threat in the Middle East.

“Despite losing its territorial ‘caliphate,’ the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) solidified its insurgent capabilities in Iraq and was resurging in Syria” from April through June, the report said.

During that time period, U.S. forces in Syria fulfilled the Trump administration’s directive to partly withdraw from the country. Military officials told the inspector general’s office that “the reduction of U.S. forces has decreased the support available for Syrian partner forces at a time when their foces [sic] need more training and equipping to respond to the ISIS resurgence,” Principal Deputy Inspector General Glenn A. Fine wrote in the opening of the report.

Military officials also said that ISIS is working to increase its power in Iraq, where the government declared victory over the group in December 2017.

Still not done with this. What's Trump's reason, again? Too expensive, you say? So how much does it cost?

The United States has ended the ridiculous 230 Million Dollar yearly development payment to Syria. Saudi Arabia and other rich countries in the Middle East will start making payments instead of the U.S. I want to develop the U.S., our military and countries that help us!
That's a Trump Tweet. No declaring Fake News today!

$230 million a year, let's just assume he meant all of that was going to Syria.

...how much is the Wall, again? He took, what was it, $3.6 billion from US military funding? That's enough to fund Syria for 15.65 years.

Now, I'd love to end this with "Trump could save the money by just not going golfing." But that's not true. He would save half, however.

    - - - Updated - - -

Okay, I've already posted a wall of text so thick Mexico should be writing me a check. So instead of quoting this NBC News article loaded with international experts on the issue, I'll quickly summarize: Turkey is going to create a "safe zone" by basically committing genocide all the way through northern Syria.

Again, this deserves it own thread, this is Major, but I and I understand other people don't have the time for a proper thread.

First off, we do see Republicans like Graham pushing back against this. Now, I'm not a Graham fan and I do attribute this to his chicken hawkish and for some reason he projects America's strength by being in every damn hot spot in the world we can. Having said that the Kurds are really a great frickin ally. I mean we shitted on them back in the first Gulf War when G.W Bush promised to help them. They have fought and really have helped defeat ISIS. They deserve our support.

Corruption. Well I did a short blurb and with Trump you can't put nothing past him. Oh if this was tied to a Democrat say Hunter Biden????? The Republicans would be running with the corruption connection like no other. It's obvious.

Now you say Trump wants to withdraw from Middle East. Sure, but as stated this is reckless for many reasons. Shocking as you and I know, almost every adviser to Trump has told him this is a horrible move?

I will wait and see how Trumpkins will defend this likely foreign policy disaster in the coming year(s) if we expect what will happen. "Red line in the Sand" or "Obama created ISIS". I mean if Turkey invades and will likely start ethnic cleansing along with again giving ISIS or whatever they call themselves a relief, it is possible Trump may create a giant mess.

But wait! There's more where that came from!

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), a member of House leadership who is weighing a Senate bid, called Trump's decision a "catastrophic mistake that puts our gains against ISIS at risk and threatens US security."

"This decision ignores lesson of 9/11. Terrorists thousands of miles away can and will use their safe-havens to launch attacks against America," she added in a tweet.

Rep. Adam Kizinger (R-Ill.) said withdrawing U.S. troops from the area would "abandon our friends and give Russia & Iran exactly what they want. This is wrong."

And Rep. Pete King (R-N.Y.), who sits on both the Intelligence and Homeland Security Committees, also voiced his disapproval. "Strongly disagree with @POTUS Trump decision to allow Erdogan to invade Syria. Betrays Kurds, strengthens ISIS and endangers American homeland," King tweeted.

Meanwhile, former Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley called the Kurds "instrumental" against ISIS and said "leaving them to die is a big mistake."
That's two more GOP lawmakers and one more Trump hire.

    But wait! There's more!

The President’s decision to abandon our Kurd allies in the face of an assault by Turkey is a betrayal. It says that America is an unreliable ally; it facilitates ISIS resurgence; and it presages another humanitarian disaster
