"I don't want to stand here two hours and do this"
Donald Trump during a global crisis.
Thoughts and prayers folks, God save you from whatever the fuck that man is.
He did not answer the reporter question as to what provisions he would not want in the bill, considering he said the democrats wanted certain ones.
He said now he is in favour of not allowing Stock buy backs but his only problem is that the democrats made a big deal about this???
The longer i watch this the more i wonder how dumb you have to be to believe this guy there is no coherent line of thought in there. He's just blaming the democrats but won't give a reason as to why.
"I am a forward thinker"
The best words.
"High rating, triple A or whatever is highest nowadays"
The dealmaker does not know the top rating of a stock/bond.
So Axios has a rundown of Pelosi's relief bill.
As you can see, a lot of the objections raised to McConnell's shell bill are covered. Republicans are probably going to point out gaps. I look forward to seeing what those are.Increases the amount of money being offered to individuals to $1,500, and up to $7,500 for a family of five. The same GOP income thresholds in the GOP bill would apply — $75,000 for individuals and $150,000 for couples, but the benefit would be available to anyone with an individual taxpayer identification number, retirees and unemployed individuals.
Waives $10,000 in federal student loan payments.
Dedicate $4 billion in grant funding to help states with upcoming elections and nationally mandates 15 days of early voting and no-excuse absentee vote-by-mail, including mailing a ballot to all registered voters in an emergency.
Includes a section that would cancel several executive orders and presidential memorandums that Democrats argue have weakened public sector unions' ability to engage in collective bargaining.
Creates new carbon offset guidelines for airlines, with a long-term goal of reducing jet fuel emissions by 50% by 2050.
Allocates $150 billion to support hospitals, local health centers and government-funded medical programs, with an additional $80 billion in low-interest loans to hospitals.
Eliminates cost-sharing for coronavirus treatments and vaccines for all patients, including the uninsured.
Addresses broader health care concerns that Democrats have pushed for months, including increasing subsidies on the individual market and creating new incentives for states to expand Medicaid.
Provides child care assistance to health care workers and emergency personnel.
Would temporarily provide $600 per week to unemployed workers affected by the coronavirus. Self-employed workers, Americans whose contracts were canceled, and new entrants to the job market would also be eligible.
Expands paid sick leave and family medical leave, as well as gives more money to food-safety benefits.
Provides $500 billion in grants and interest-free loans to small businesses.
Creates a $200 billion stabilization fund for states and $15 billion for local governments through the Community Development Block Grant program. The legislation also authorizes the Federal Reserve to purchase state and local government bonds.
Pumps nearly $60 billion into schools and universities, with $50 billion directly provided to states for school funding and nearly $10 billion to higher education institutions.
Dedicates $20 billion to reimbursing the U.S. Postal Service for lost revenue, and forgives USPS debt.
Requires companies receiving federal assistance during coronavirus to institute a $15 minimum wage.

fairly clear at this point that senate republicans don't give a shit about regular people
even with the impending deaths of thousands of citizens along with the wrecking of the economy, they still remain beholden to wealthy donors and their own selfishness
fucking amazing
Is this normal for a bill to include so many points? It sounds almost like an economic 'plan' of my country. I can get why those points should be in but should it not just be about the corona virus not about air pollution and eduction? Does that not make it all the more harder to get it passed? Is this done to get things passed they want because it is a crisis? Is this done because elections are coming up?
After watching that horrific press conference i am absolutely appalled. My father who bleed for that nation has to be doing back flips in his grave, i left thankfully 6 years ago and the only thing i have in the states is a house and my brother and his family. How can people embrace that level of stupid is insane to me, they defend it almost like they are picking a damn sports team.
Whatever i think of Morrison is nothing compared to Trump, holy shit.
"Life is one long series of problems to solve. The more you solve, the better a man you become.... Tribulations spawn in life and over and over again we must stand our ground and face them."
Well half the brain people do watch Fox News or an equivalent. This narrative will work and sadly it has become hyper partisan.
The scary and worst part is this is supposedly how we got Trump by people saying government didn't function and we need a "not a politician" in office. It's weird that hyper partisanship shits on one party. Let's say if the narrative above was true but the Dems were punished for not the government working when the other party runs on making sure the government doesn't work.

Yeah, I wish it was a "clean" bill. For instance looking at what you posted the carbon offset, $60 billion into school funding. I'm not getting how this helps for coronovirus. Yes, if we are getting into the whole "you negotiate everything" that is fine but the public perception part that McConnell can hit back on.
"Buh dah DEMS"
I'm totally flummoxed how anyone can think the leadership of Trump has been good in any way. This press conference today was a total shitshow. Fauci was conspicuously absent. One of the most bizarre ideas is ramping things up because the "cure can't be worse than the problem."
This is dangerous rhetoric. It will lead directly to more people dying, which the conservative right seems to accept as "necessary to keep the economy going." The party of howling at made-up death panels now wants to sacrifice, ironically, their OWN POLITICAL BASE, to keep the economy "going." The party of pro-life is now putting money ahead of life when they decry the single women who have to make that decision daily and choose to get an abortion (not that abortion is ghoulish, like what they're proposing).
Dems were accused last night of politicking by rejecting the Republican slush fund bill last night when they gave it to them 40 minutes before the vote. Now Republicans are ACTUALLY politicking because they don't want to give up political concessions to keep people afloat. They're doing this for re-election.
What's totally unforgivable about this situation is the idea that we can't weather this shutdown. Our economy has been built into a reckless, careening vehicle by these selfsame Republicans, with little to no social safety nets. Things that should be easy and are happening readily across Europe are points of political contention by the conservatives in this country: suspending rent, taxes, providing subsidies, extending paid sick leave, having universal health care (and thus not worrying about bankrupting their citizens for treatment), issuing public mandates with civil and criminal penalties for disobedience, and so on, and so forth. We can't survive this economic meltdown because Republicans have set up the economy to not survive it. It is built on worker exploitation and the enrichment of the wealthy, corporate class. We can survive it - if we have a raft of public safety nets implemented.
But Republicans know that that runs counter to everything they believe it, and now are promoting a reckless, dangerous idea simply so they don't have to admit they're wrong: that government exists for *this very purpose,* and has a useful, necessary function, and it should be much more expansive, in this country.
