I don't know what the deal is but the first 4 months of 2020 have been just insane and not just due to COVID. When I was pondering my 2020 with friends at NYE this is not what I envisioned.

In just the last three days, Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico and Wisconsin have all recorded their highest daily case counts.

Epidemiologists said the spread from urban cores to rural regions is typical of an infectious disease like influenza, which usually lands in big cities with busy hub airports. Viruses tend to fan out across cities, but expand more slowly — though no less dangerously — in rural areas.

We knew this would happen eventually. The good/bad news is it will spread slower in such areas -- there aren't tightly packed crowds or public transportation, but at the same time, there's worse medical care and often older people.

This goes into another topic mentioned earlier: real virus paths aren't always symmetric. They can have a lengthy tail of slow, but not slowing, growth that extends for some time. Hopefully the rural parts of American learned from what we've seen so far and are prepared for it.

It's Trump, so he basically seems to double down on disinfectant at least him trying to squirm out that he was talking about any disinfectant used on a surface. So yeah, but still don't ingest it. Then the Bill part is him stupidly trying to bullshit his way out of it as if later on Trump will give us some big research on this? Yeah its word salad.

He then talks about sun, heat and humidity wiping it out. So I don't have the full context but he is again more that likely going back to COVID-19 and saying something that is not true. We don't know what happens yet to under these conditions. Keeps saying this from "tests we been doing for months". Once more trying to bs his way as if he knows something that nobody else knows

Oh then he mentions sun. Trump states suns has tremendous impact saying within hours it goes dead.


Alright the meaty part. Again asked about his statement of ingestion of disinfectants and he says in the room he was putting it sarcastically. My goodness this guy is an idiot. So he believes his best defense is "I was being sarcastic". Which of course is not true and not a good defense.

April 17th: Judge Issues Restraining Order To ‘Church’ Selling Bleach As COVID-19 Cure

A federal judge in Florida ordered a “church” hawking bleach as a holy sacrament to stop selling it as a COVID-19 cure.

“Genesis II Church of Health and Healing” has in recent weeks marketed an industrial bleach concoction long a mainstay in anti-vaccine circles — “Miracle Mineral Solution,” or MMS — as a coronavirus prevention and treatment elixir, prosecutors alleged in a complaint Thursday.

On Friday, Judge Kathleen Williams approved a temporary restraining order to prevent the four men behind the church from hawking the elixir.

In reality, most MMS is just chlorine dioxide — “a powerful bleaching agent,” as the FDA warned last year.

Nonetheless, the church’s websites advertise “sacramental Dosing for Coronavirus” and feature a full page of testimonials about the bleach mixture’s effectiveness against the virus.

“I was really skeptical of MMS but my little autistic brother has been taking it since he was like 3 and he’s 11 now and every time he got sick he’d get over it within like a day no matter the severity,” read one unsigned testimonial on a church website. “He never got sick from it or anything so I decided to give it a try and boy oh boy I was surprised it really does work.”

“It was a terrible time but it worked no matter what anyone says it really works,” the purportedly happy customer added.

The Florida men — Mark, Joseph, Jordan and Jonathan Grenon — are part of a larger group that was one of the early popularizers of bleach as a “cure” for dozens of conditions. One of the church’s founders, Jim Humble, was described by Newsweek in 2018 as a former Scientologist. He’s also a former gold prospector, ABC News reported in 2016, in a story that called Genesis II Church officials “the high priests of snake oil.”

The oddly structured organization — “a free church under common law” that is “not under commercial law,” its website proclaims — is devoted to the bleach concoction, which has dangerously grown in popularity in recent years as a home remedy for autism.

A reggae jingle at the top of a recent online broadcast from the church sang the praises of the bleach mixture.

“It’s a thorn in the side of corrupt institutions,” the song goes. “A drop of chlorine dioxide starts a health revolution.”

Underneath the ensuing 150-minute conversation, text on the church’s website blares: “G2Voice Broadcast #182: The Coronavirus is curable! Do you believe it? You better!”

According to the complaint against church’s “archbishop” and “bishops” — Mark, Joseph, Jordan and Jonathan Grenon — the religious leaders really just label and distribute MMS.

Despite a letter from the FDA and FTC last week ordering them to stop advertising the bleach as a COVID-19 cure, Genesis II Church kept going.

“We take donations, we don’t sell anything,” Mark Grenon said of the FDA letter on a recent “G2Voice” broadcast. “How dare you call our sacraments fraudulent!” he added.

In a letter back to the FDA and FTC, Grenon essentially claimed his organization was exempt from laws regulating medical claims, arguing its distribution of “sacraments” was a matter of religious freedom.

“‘Branding?’ We are NOT commercial code!” he wrote. “NOTE: You are trying to put us in your box and try and get us under your authority.”

Prosecutors didn’t appreciate that response.

“When warned by authorities that their conduct was unlawful, Defendants responded with open defiance, explicitly avowing that they need not — and will ‘never’ — obey the law,” they wrote.

As of Friday, the advertisements for MMS as a COVID-19 treatment were still live on Genesis II Church’s websites.

As of early April, the White House was literally planning to distribute millions of pills of a drug that had not been clinically tested as a treatment for the coronavirus.

The Trump administration was literally planning on giving millions of Americans medication that would not just be ineffective, but would considerably increase the risk of death on top of the risk from the coronavirus.

Under the plan, which set off alarm bells within the health agencies, chloroquine drugs would be available to patients through pharmacies, not just to hospitalized patients. “There wasn’t a plan for physician oversight or monitoring,” one federal official told Vanity Fair. “That’s what concerned clinicians the most. Career FDA, NIH, CDC, and BARDA [personnel] were all very concerned about lack of physician oversight or adverse event monitoring with the expanded-access program.”

Because there was no oversight. Doctors would be able to just prescribe it and go.

Giroir’s rationale for ignoring FDA limitations appeared to hinge on a technicality: Because chloroquine is FDA-approved for conditions including malaria and lupus, doctors could technically prescribe it for any “off-label” treatments they saw fit. He added, presumably in reference to shortages prompted by Trump’s P.R. campaign, “And pharmacies need it for ON LABEL use as well.”

This ABSOLUTELY SHOULD have been noticed at the beginning of April. All I did was look at the state and county numbers pretty much daily well since the beginning of March. The virus has infected every part of every southern state, along with the huge hot spot of the Mardi Gras area. The numbers have grown steadily since the beginning of March. The fact that the people organizing our national response to this did not notice this is just plain criminal negligence.

In my not so humble opinion, the people that went to Mass in person on Easter should be charged with manslaughter (accidentally killing others). Same with the people that recently went to the beach recently (I forget which state it was). Much of this growth of the virus has been completely and totally predictable. The fact that people are surprised by the "new" cases that have been steadily growing throughout the south shows a lack of paying attention to the most important of details.

Since every part of these areas are infected, it will be very difficult to root it all out. Conquer it in 90% of the counties in a state, open things up, and in a couple of months we get to redo the whole exercise, just with a different set of hot spots.

In the battle between virus and humans, my current bets are on the virus. It is too late to be angry. It is time to weep. Then after 3-5 days, time to get past the grief, time to get past the weeping, and just be very focused on survival and taking care of those close to us. And using sites like this one here as a place to vent and maintain our sanity knowing that we are not alone in our absolute shock that the US is actually handling this so badly, and that Trump is still President after all of the harmful stupid anti-American things he has done in the past month.

The COVID-19 coronavirus has saturated the United States, and it appears to be spreading quickly in some places that are planning to ease social distancing restrictions soon, a new study shows.

County-level data shows COVID-19 cases in all 306 "hospital referral regions" in the United States, the areas where people go for hospital or specialist care, said study leader Dr. Elliott Fisher, a professor of health policy and medicine at The Dartmouth Institute in Lebanon, N.H.

"We need to be aware that this epidemic is far from over. The number of cases in every region today are higher than they were a week ago," said Fisher. "We have no place in the country where there are not cases being reported within a region."

The data also show that COVID-19 cases are growing more rapidly in places that have not been as heavily hit as New York City, Seattle, San Francisco and other early coronavirus hot spots.
