Republicans lost their shit when Obama sent out letters in 2016 for ACA signups even though in the end it saved money and lives....

But hey a letter doing nothing....totally worth it

The NYTimes has responded.
"No."
I look forward to Hannity trying this in court. Mostly, because I want the bereaved daughter to take the stand and say, under oath, that her father went on a cruise because Hannity said it was okay. And then he caught coronavirus and died. I want that on the record. I want a permanent, under oath, verified public record that FOX News got someone killed.
Looks like unemployment is due for another massive spike in the next few weeks.
First few states coming on board with gig/independent contractors and its not looking good:
NC: Biggest spike before this was 34k ish
First two days saw a 10% increase In overall unemployment numbers.
https://www.wral.com/coronavirus/une...tors/19075056/
North Carolina saw the biggest spike yet in unemployment claims Friday as the state system opened to self-employed people and independent contractors not usually eligible for claims.
Nearly 54,500 claims were filed Friday, according to the NC Division of Employment Security. Saturday saw another 32,500 claims.
Altogether DES says 875,632 unemployment claims have been filed in North Carolina since March 15.
That's roughly 17 percent of the state's civilian work force.
Just wait CA started this week too, if we see the same 10% bump you are talking about another 400,000 just in CA.
Stories are all over the web on CA web site just totally crashing, phone systems dead and zero callbacks happening.

Man, between Tammy and all the protesters, conservatives sure as fuck don't seem to know what slavery actually is.

Looking for <Good Quotes for Signature>.
She is kinda hot, and that's pretty much all that is required to be a female conservative pundit these days. Fox is famous for their bottle blondes, and used to push for them to do sexy photo shoots in dude magazines. In the end, almost none of them have any real substance, and they will say whatever the fuck is put in front of them. That makes them b-list actresses, nothing more.
Jesus fucking Christ, I hate political pundits.

Facing mounting criticism over its handling so far, Mnuchin adds another "patch" to SBA loans, specifically reviewing any loan over $2 million.
"What's wrong with that?"
As with any program that is rushed out there, there were going to be mistakes. The ones we've seen have been pretty blatant -- larger companies than the "S"BA should be dealing with, and of course those private hedge fund guys. On paper, this should be chalked up...wow, that's a horrible mixed metaphor. Um, on whiteboard, this would be markered up to run-of-the-mill rush jobs and slipping through the cracks.
But these aren't standard times. These are times in which Trump sent active-duty military to his own hotel, argued for an FBI office location near another of his hotels, blocked immigration yet asked for more temp visas for his hotels and vineyard, might own stock in the fish tank cleaner he told America was a wonder cure before it started killing people, and of course even now, his own son wants some of the coronavirus relief funds that in the law Trump personally signed he's not allowed to have, while fighting Congressional oversight that was also in the law Trump personally signed. Not to mention what the tax cut for the rich did for him, personally.
Trump has long since lost the public trust on this one. The Congressional oversight mandated in the law Trump personally signed was proof enough of that -- McConnell didn't block that -- but it's just part of the puzzle. So now, when anyone clearly too rich or too big to need any "S"BA funds gets them anyhow, we have to ask "was this Trump just throwing money at himself and his rich friends again?"
Sorry. I don't make the rules. I just see to it they're enforced.
Speaking of enforcement: at some point, national parks are going to have to make the stay open/stay closed/stay restricted decision. When asked for comment, the head of the National Park Service had this to say:
Trump never nominated anyone. So naturally, we instead turn to the next closest department, BLM to be precise, whose head had this to say:I don't exist
Trump never nominated anyone for that post, either.I don't exist either
Two environmental watchdog groups are threatening to sue the Department of the Interior for continuously filling top posts with temporary orders — a move that skirts Senate confirmation.
The notice of intent to sue calls particular attention to William Perry Pendley, the acting director BLM, who has been on the job nearly a year, with his tenure repeatedly extended for a few months at a time by an order from Secretary of the Interior David Bernhardt.
Acting head of BLM, Evil Colin Mochrie
It should be 127.82% clear by now that Trump doesn't want oversight, despite the Constitution demanding it. He wants the speeches, the fame, the applause, and he wants to go to a parade so he can laugh and clap his hands. He doesn't want the actual job, because the job has rules telling him what he can't do.Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER) and the Western Watersheds Project argue in a notice of intent to sue that such orders violate both the Federal Vacancies Reform Act and the appointments clause of the U.S. Constitution, which dictates that the orders should only be used temporarily.
The orders “falsely asserted that the need for the ‘temporary’ re-delegations is due to the ‘Presidential transition,’ which now is long past more than three and one quarter years post-inauguration,” the groups write.
Pendley is a controversial figure in conservation circles given his longtime advocacy for selling off public lands. His ethics pledge includes a 17-page recusal list that shows his ties with a number of industries that stand to benefit from greater access to public lands.
He has also overseen a relocation of the agency’s D.C. headquarters that has resulted in losing more than half the staff slated to move.
A leader who doesn't have rules to follow is a dictator. Anyone who wants to defend Trump on this, you have 24 hours to show me his taxes.
It's BECAUSE they spew nonsense that they are still around. You have to understand, political punditry is part of the overall political machinery for the parties. They exist to both publicize their particular party agenda, but to also give cover and deniability to that very same party for the shit that they are spreading. That means there are multiple tiers of that punditry.
You have the "political insiders" who are all about talking about the nuts and bolts of a policy, but go out of their way to ignore any rhetoric that may be harmful to their cause.
You have the partisan shills who are there as salesmen, offering little more than surface-level analysis while pushing a Borg-like message of unison for their party.
Next, you have the "loose cannons" that say all sorts of shit, hoping to drum up the innermost bigotry and anger of the base, while still pretending to be genuinely concerned.
You will also have the "voice-of-reason" pundits, who swear they want civil discourse, and pretend to call their party when it goes way too far. They are simply there to pretend to be reasonable, when their goals are still the same.
You also have the straight up trolls, who spread misinformation like fucking wildfire. They only exist to stir up as much shit as possible, and to muddy the waters.
Lastly, you have the concern trolls who do the same as the other, whilst simply lying about what they actually believe. They will never answer questions about themselves, and will always pretend to be something other than what they really are.
Now, the last two may not seem like actual punditry, but it really is. They are the ones who are pushing the misinformation campaigns at the "lowest level."
Welp 180 million workers are about to be screwed over by Trump and their employers for liability when it comes to workers safety.
This will start the ball rolling on blanket immunity for businesses.
On top of the fact today republican run states are starting to say "if you refuse to go back to work you get no unemployment, no matter how unsafe it is...."
https://thehill.com/homenews/adminis...virus-outbreak
The White House plans to work with the Labor Department to “provide safety standards and guidance for workers to make sure they are kept safe and not put in harm’s way as they serve the public,” the official said.
The White House decided to issue the order, the details of which were first reported by Bloomberg News, following estimates that meat production capacity nationwide could be reduced by as much as 80 percent.
Trump told reporters in the Oval Office earlier Tuesday that he planned to sign an executive order to address “liability problems” related to the food supply chain and specifically mentioned Tyson Foods. The order will apply to all meat processing plants in the U.S.
“We’re going to sign an executive order today I believe, and that will solve any liability problems, and they had certain liability problems.”
Still, Trump insisted Tuesday there was plenty of food in supply but said distribution was a concern and that Tyson was facing a “very unique circumstance because of liability.”
