First, and maybe least important, I’m always fascinated at how memes, cultural and visual idioms and more, many of which have their roots in American popular culture have become globalized. It’s also striking how a political culture like the PRC, which is deeply authoritarian and in many ways hidebound, can so nimbly deploy them. Against us.

This is what actually stood out to me when I saw this tweet earlier today. "Wow, they actually kinda understand western memes and how to use them." which...is kinda impressive. I mean sure, Russians figured this shit out ages ago, but I don't think China has ever really focused on their meme game when trolling other countries like this.

It's clear now that Trump will not win the trade war, he won't get Phase One honored, he might actually face illegal/immoral Chinese govt attacks and Trump will limp into November without one of his moist bragged-about promises.

Florida medical examiners were releasing coronavirus death data. The state made them stop.

State officials have stopped releasing the list of coronavirus deaths being compiled by Florida’s medical examiners, which has at times shown a higher death toll than the state’s published count.

The list had previously been released in real time by the state Medical Examiners Commission. But earlier this month, after the Tampa Bay Times reported that the medical examiners’ death count was 10 percent higher than the figure released by the Florida Department of Health, state officials said the list needed to be reviewed and possibly redacted.

I mean this is incredible if who and where this cover-up has come from. Yes if anyone from the DeSantis camp is involved this is reckless to citizens of Florida.

I tried to research where Florida ranks in deaths, but could not find ranks. The understanding is while Florida is 5th in population and of course a large elderly population they lag behind.

Now what I have read they have over 1k deaths but this story as stated may be more and a criminal abuse of a cover-up.

According to worldometers, Florida currently is listed as 10th in the rank of total COVID-19 deaths. I am, however, suspicious of their reporting and wouldn't put it past their "leaders" to have fudged some numbers. I'd be interested in seeing if elderly deaths have skyrocketed the past month there for "unknown" reasons, for example...

Interesting study done about FOX news watchers. Specifically Sean Hannity and Tucker Carlson viewers. The former heavily downplayed the virus till mid march, and resulted in a 30% more positive cases of Covid19 and 21% more deaths then the latter.
