I responded to you saying that two weeks without numbers increasing, would be the time to reopen. I pointed at WA state effectively handling the virus, after being the epicenter, compared to what Florida is doing. So... your observation is less than apt.



Why? We lost the pandemic response team and had healthcare gutted to pay for it. How can you, even argue that keeping the pandemic response team, would have resulted in far better approach... oh... because it doesn’t matter, since Trump wouldn’t have listened to them regardless and more warnings, would not have helped. No, there is no inherent love of freedom in defunding pandemic response team, cutting CDC budget by 19% or ignoring the virus for weeks. What? We are literally sending our supplies to Florida and set to open in June, without sacrificing the elderly. Florida has more than 3 times the cases WA does. First of all, yes one is an option, it's what Trump and McConnell are supporting -- sacrificing the elderly to survive economically. So already, your argument is flawed.

Second of all, even if those were the only two options, you're defending the person who put us there, because of his words and actions. You don't get to play that game.

Third of all, someone who supports Trump -- who personally signed the record-breaking deficits into law after the tax cut for the rich didn't pay for itself, doesn't get to say "Oh! Oh! This will cost money!" and clutch their pearls. Especially considering even in 2019 it was clear things were getting more expensive, not less expensive, and the results weren't paying off. If you're okay with paying more money for no results, you can't object to spending money for good results. That would be hypocrisy.

Fourthly, if you continue to support the person whose words and actions put us in this circumstance, you don't get to claim "all this fighting doesn't help" while supporting someone responsible for tens of thousands of American deaths (with more on the way) and millions upon millions of lost jobs.
