    DeSantis has proven that he’s nothing if not a trump shill.

    I’m curious about the end game from his perspective... is it truly incompetency, or does he feel like admitting there’s indeed a Covid problem, and therefore admitting trump was and is wrong, will hurt trump’s chances in the critical Florida elections?

    Fucked = Florida.
    And if FL is seeing daily case counts higher than New York State ever saw, then would it be presumptuous to assume that (fuck) Florida might also see a daily death count higher than NY ever saw (731 in April)?

    Hopefully not. Death rates do seem legitimately lower now, maybe it is because we have improved in care, maybe it is because the median age of people exposed are lower, or maybe something changed in the virus. Or most likely some combination of a range of factors. Hopefully we do not see the same death tolls as we saw in NY.

    The way Florida (and I THINK most other states?) reports these are the numbers from the day before. We won't see TODAY'S numbers until tomorrow, so it doesn't really matter what time it's reported. But yeah, it's already far too late, especially for half-measures.

    Nobody is defending rioters man. As much as you want to strawman it, nobody is doing that. Violent people that hurt people are bad, everyone agrees with that. The fact you cannot make the distinction between rioters and protests doesn't mean the rest of us can't.

    Hard to say, both because they are obscuring their data and because treatment HAS improved a lot since March. The average age of those admitted to the hospital has dropped dramatically which means there's probably also a better chance of their survival (although probably not without lifelong complications). Of course, if their healthcare system is being overwhelmed--and there is every indication that it is--then seeing a daily total of several hundred in the near future probably isn't out of the question.

    From Gallup.

    GOP Governors Losing Residents' Support on COVID-19

    There have been clear declines in residents' ratings of their governor in Republican-led states as a whole. This includes an 11-point decrease, from 54% in early June to 43% most recently, in those agreeing their governor is communicating a clear plan of action for addressing the pandemic. There has also been an eight-point decline, from 61% to 53%, in those agreeing their governor cares about the safety and health of the community.

    Meanwhile, there has been no meaningful change in the governor ratings of residents in Democratic-led states as a whole.

    Further analysis of the Gallup data shows that Republican governors lost the most support over the past month from political independents, with lesser declines seen among Republican residents. Democrats' already low ratings of their Republican governors' response to the situation were fairly flat by comparison.

    Meanwhile, in states led by Democratic governors, independents' ratings of their governors' handling of the situation increased slightly in June, by six to eight points across the dimensions analyzed. Republicans living in these states also grew slightly more positive about their Democratic governors' leadership over the course of June, while Democratic residents' already high ratings didn't change much at all.

    DeSantis needs to free up hospital beds by sending all the sick old folks back to their nursing homes. And when the plan goes to hell in a hand basket...all he needs to do is blame Trump to absolve himself of any culpability. Easy peasy!

    Yes, this is where I get most of my info every day. I'm not sure what you're trying to say. What they (Florida) is reporting is the PREVIOUS day's totals. They almost always do it all at once around noon.

    its funny how conservatives have to keep harping about looters and rioters when that hasn't happend in weeks while everyday more and more evidence of cops brutalizing innocent people wont stop coming to light.

    Liberating states is a false dichotomy? Trump chose property, as in wallstreet, over American lives.
