The U.S. budget deficit climbed to $2.81 trillion in the first 10 months of the budget year, exceeding any on record, the Treasury Department said Wednesday.

The nation’s budgetary shortfall is expected to eventually reach levels for the fiscal year that ends Sept. 30 more than double the largest annual deficit on record.

Maybe next year he can add another $1.2 trillion to it if he's elected and gets rid of the payroll taxes permanently.

Bush accomplished this in his last year as well. His "official national deficit" was high, but not outrageously high. But that was because he used accounting gimmickry to put so much "off budget". The amount the National Debt went up was more than a trillion dollars, and was a LOT more than double anything that had happened before he was in office. Closer to triple.

I think that Reagan accomplished this as well. His last budget deficit I am pretty sure was a lot more than double what Jimmy Carter left him with. Meanwhile, both Clinton and Obama had deficits lower in their last years as compared to what they started out with.

Bush and Trump are two examples of why we should never ever let a republican be President again. They just do way too much damage to the country, and to our finances.

I couldn't agree more. This November will be terrifying rolling up to the election and then afterwards. Most everyone is saying we won't have a clear winner by Nov 4, and it might take a week or more before ballots are certified - horror how.

And yeah, in a fair election, the GOP would be out on their asses. But this November will be anything but. Trump's work on derailing the Postal Service seems to be moving along nicely.

Yep, and it won't - not for decades. There seems to be no way to break the racist/non-secular educational cycle we see in so many Red States. Even if all the schools were fully funded right now, we'd still have community standards running the schools, with all the book banning and anti-science that comes with it.
