Freakin tell me about it, my last one was like...January, maybe (I don't go in too often normally). I'm getting to the point where I'll probably just say fuck it and keep growing my hair out like in college, but just long enough to donate it. I'm already a good chunk of the way there and it's not looking like we're returning to full on normal anytime soon, so why the hell not.

you have to consider trump like Lukashenko or Yanukovych. they arent pro russia or pro putin they are just completely out for themselves and will use whoever or whatever gets them cash and power.

I do think its become increasingly hard to talk about the reality of what russia wants geopolitically because of the constant background noise about manchurian candidate shit.

trump at heart is a blue blooded american piece of shit, like Martin Shkreli or anyone else who lives in moneyland.

So I really want to believe this is just White House staffers making up juicy stories. I really want to believe that. But I can't. This is all so perfectly Trumpian it is hard not to believe it.

The "Suckers and losers" bit is definitely true. He has said it in public before. Honestly, that one doesn't really offend me, the vast majority of Americas wealthy families feel exactly the same way, they are just polite enough not to say it. I have dealt with a lot of ivy league trust fund kids that treat my military background with a "It is a pity you had to do that, but with your background, I guess it was the only way" attitude. America sends its poor to fight its wars, just like every empire before it. Most aristocrats aren't stupid enough to point it out, because holding your military in contempt is a good way to wind up in front of a firing squad.

The part that kind of shocked me though, but still seems perfectly in character, is telling the planning for the military committee that he didn't want disabled veterans in the parade, because "Nobody wants to see that". It is such a shocking request that it would never occur to me that anyone would object to that, but of course Trump would. Amputees aren't "Heroic". They don't like like they are "Straight out of Central Casting". They aren't sexy and powerful like tanks and jets, so why would Trump want all these broken old people in his parade?

I can only imagine what the atmosphere in the room was like after he said that.

Also... it is fairly unusual, that such a fan of militarism neither his grandparents, parents, he himself or his children have any kind of service life. Why do people take him serious?
They put out a poll recently that shows that Biden has more support from the Military, than Donald does. Which is hilarious, considering the military is usually a Republican stronghold based on them wanting to keep the military budget over flooded.

What really really fucking irritates me is the faux pride that the right has when they say ‘thank you for your service’ to servicemen. Yet, they’ll deny Trump said all this, because it’ll ruin their entire charade and schtick. It’s yet another situation where they’ll hug the flag just for the votes it brings them.

Wow! Listening to live Trump speech. He is crazy.

So he just said "They want to blow up Mt. Rushmore". Idk who, I guess Dems. This person is on a crazy rant right now.
Democrats are the best! I will never ever question a Democrat again. I LOVE the Democrats!

Well, there is some legitimate reason to doubt this. The source is just some White House staffers venting to a reporter from the Atlantic. Now the Atlantic has good journalistic standards, so I absolutely believe that White House staffers said all this. That doesn't mean the White House staffers were telling the truth though.

The motive of the White House staffers at this point is fairly clear. They are a pack of grifters with no real loyalty other then to personal greed. So they are just hedging their bets in case everything falls apart, so they can reframe themselves as the resistance that was standing up to Trump all along, and write their memoirs for big money. Remember that anonymous oped from a couple years ago? That sort of shit. Just grifting. Playing both sides in case it all goes horribly wrong they can just switch to the winning team.

However, if this stuff is a lie, it sounds exactly like Trump. It fits his attitudes and persona to a tee, and I am sure White House staffers see so much crazy shit they don't really need to make stuff like this up, the truth is damning enough. So I do believe it, but I certainly understand anyone that doesn't. Trump supporters will dismiss this in a heartbeat, so it really winds up just as porn for people who already hate Trump. It won't change any minds.

I prefer bullet points so humour me.

    1. Like you said, it’s just an anonymous source type thing as of now. They’re all part abandoning ship, part holding on in the event he wins. They’re grifters like you said.

    2. Agreed. It’s very much what he would say. His treatment of McCain and Bush Sr paints enough of a picture to know what kind of person he is. So it’s not in the realms of fantasy.

    3. This is the part that gets me and is what I was annoyed about. He’ll do and say all these things, but his loyalists do not give a fuck as long as they get the power they want.

    4. The lack of opinion shift in the face of such information also speaks to how relatively solidified the two voting banks are. Apart from minor divergences here and there, I really can’t see much changing in the next 60 days. But this is Trump. There’s at least one or two Biden investigation or scandals to come prior to the election along with a hastily arranged vaccine. So time will tell. Biden needs to maintain a +10 imo to deal the EC vote beyond any margin for error. But let’s see.

I think it's going to come down to how fucked mail-in voting is. In a fair election I'm pretty confident Biden would win hands down in November. Unfortunately the damage has already been done to the USPS and during this pandemic FAR more Democrats have indicated they're voting by mail than Republicans meaning there's a danger a lot of those votes are not going to be counted at all depending on how delayed the mail is.

This is on top of the Trump supporters who pledged to "patrol" the polls for illegal voting, the removal of convenient polling places/drop boxes from minority neighborhoods and the numerous other ways in which the GOP twist things to their favor.

I can't rightly ask that people voting for Biden risk their health or their lives by voting in person this year, but I fear that's the only way the majority of them will be counted. Congress is moving too slowly and too ineffectively to restore the USPS to full operation before the election. It's going to be a major factor.

Can't wait to hear Trump supporters excuses for why it's okay to call fallen soldiers losers and suckers.

    It's a risk for them.

They could try to deny it ever happened, saying Fake News. If it's never admitted or proven true, they don't have to defend it. If it is proven or admitted true, then by their denial it happened they've already admitted it's poor behavior, and they lose twice.

Or, they could take the "sure thing" and defend the behavior.

Or they could just disappear from the forum while we talk about it, and never address it at all. They have nothing to gain from ever acknowledging this article exists.

Instead, we will just get old Ghosty in here in about a week talking about how he has to support Trump because he is "Strong on the Military".

Excuse what? FAKE NEWS from anonymous sources? We're already seeing the White House obviously deny the report, and very online Twitter conservatives doing the usual, "ANONYMOUS SOURCSE ARE ALL FAKE!" song and dance.
