A little over 39k new cases and 707 deaths. The total is now 198,128. I expect we'll be hitting 200k on Tuesday.

Wisconsin continues having high numbers (for Wisconsin), posting their 4th-highest total ever today. Including yesterday and the day before that's 3 of their 4 highest totals ever. North Dakota also posted their highest-ever total today at just under 500. Still hard to tell if these are the remnants of that holiday lull catching up or if they're part of the peaks we were seeing from that region last week.

Things should be relatively back to normal by Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. It's hard to believe that we're calling 39k "low" at this point given that we were regularly seeing 22-25k daily three months ago and even that's pretty high to consider this "a success". Given that I doubt everyone observed social distancing/mask rules during the holiday and Trump's out committing premeditated murder with his super spreader events I'm skeptical that we're going to be getting back to those lows soon.

Flu season is right around the corner.

    Stay safe, folks.

If there's any... consolation... hopefully the measures that most people are taking to prevent the spread of coronavirus should also help mitigate the spread of the flu

Which mistake? "No one in their right mind would vote for that idiot, so I'm not going to bother voting for Hillary Biden?"

I agree that Trump could very well win. But I don't think the election will be a repeat of the last. Because circumstances are a little different now than they were in '16.

Trump has only bled off support since 2016. The one wild card that may help him win is the extra ratfucking that we're all aware of.

If the country had fair and accurate voting not only would Trump not win, but republicans would be swept out of office by a significant margin. Hillary topped him by almost 3 million, but Biden would more than triple that with fair voting. But, even with all of the fuckery going on I still think the margin will be bigger. The razor thin victories Trump had in a few swing states won't be possible again without extreme levels of cheating.

And yes, the other side is claiming dems are cheating. The difference is they have no evidence and are just making it up while Trump and his cronies are cheating right in front of our eyes.

Voting for Trump. How anyone thought a failed businessman and an elite would care about them in anyway is beyond me.

I have seen people claim that he is going to get like 85 million votes. He got less than 63 million votes, and some how they are going to pull 22 million votes out of their ass, when all evidence shows that he has only lost support since getting elected. People are just smoking crack.

Trump supporters are deranged/in denial. They don't want to believe that he could actually lose.

Because he "tells it like it is" and regurgitates the "lower taxes, yes to guns, no to immigrants" talking points that make up the unholy trinity of the republican platform.

Trump is the poor man's idea of a rich man, the weak man's idea of a strong man, and the idiot's idea of an intelligent person.

It actually lends perspective into the pathetic nature of these people. They rallied against the coastal elites for years then vote one in.

I know the article is old news by now, but I think it's worth bringing up again.

Title: Roger Stone Calls For Trump To 'Declare Martial Law' To Seize Power If He Loses

    Excerpts:

Long-time Donald Trump confidant, and convicted felon, Roger Stone said that the president should declare “martial law” to seize power if he loses what Stone characterized as an already corrupt election.

The results will only be legitimate if the “real winner” — Trump — takes office, regardless of what the votes say, Stone declared. A loss would apparently be justification for Trump to use force to take over the nation.
It's been known that this scenario is being mulled over by Trump and his supporters. I am surprised that they would make it public before the election.

This leads me to two conclusions: their internal polls show Trump getting creamed, and even the cheating they are working on will not be enough to get Trump a victory.

And two: This is their trial balloon. It is a serious scenario from the Trump side, and they are seeing if there would be enough support to actually succeed in accomplishing their goals. Failed coups are no fun.

If Trump loses, he can resign and have Pence give him a full unconditional pardon and move to another country and live out his life rich. If he loses and fails in his coup attempt, well that would be bad for him.

Under martial law and the Insurrection Act, Trump will have “the authority” to arrest Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Apple CEO Tim Cook, “the Clintons” and “anybody else who can be proven to be involved in illegal activity,” Stone said. He also called for the immediate arrest of former defense secretary James Mattis for “sedition,” apparently because he feared Trump was unfit for office, according to Washington Post journalist’s to Bob Woodward’s upcoming book, “Rage.”
Apparently Trump-Zauterberg negotiations did not go so well for Trump. Or at least Zauterberg stood up to Trump at least a little. I'm not at all sure what he has against the Apple CEO.

While such off-the-rail suggestions could easily be shrugged off from most, Stone is a high-profile friend of the president and has his ear, critics fear. Harvard law professor and Constitutional expert Laurence Tribe warned that Stone’s “advocacy of totalitarian takeover by Trump has to be taken seriously.”
To me, it is not clear if this is Stone's idea, and that it is dangerous due to his influence with Trump, or if the idea was Trump's and Stone is the person sending out the trial balloon. Either way, it seems to me that this idea is being taken very seriously in Trump's inner circles.

I do just want to point out, Trump lost Cali by itself by like 4 million. Losing the national race by 3 million, when you lose 1 state that covers more then that amount means basically that Clinton hit a home run in a state she was going to win no matter what. It mean very little to the overall election. Maybe she should have campaigned more in the states she ignored.

and she lost the bottom 7 states by almost 4 million.
    So?

i am not sure what point you are trying to make since these states are not outliers and have counter states in ever election that cancel out the difference.

BTW if CA was adjusted based on their contribution, voter #'s and size to this country they should have quite a number more delegates.

but hey nothing like #49 on the list having 60% more power per vote then CA!! Fair is Fair to one of the 7-9 states supporting the other 40 ish.

Here are 10 states that Trump won by 4 million votes combined: Tennessee, Arkansas, Kentucky, Indiana, Oklahoma, Missouri, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, and Alabama. Those 10 states combined have 38 million people living in them. That's a lot of people! And it won Trump 72 EC votes.

California has 39 million. And gave Clinton 55 EC votes. Oops.

Once again he has no fucking point but to derail or muddy the waters.

Issue is that all those states have a total 71 EC votes to California's 55. If anything with those number Cali should have 73 or the other states should have a combined 53.

I kinda feel like this might be something the military top brass should make a statement and get out ahead of. This is an unbelievably dangerous thing to say (even for a shitheel like Stone) given the current political climate. I know we have a few frequent posters in the thread with a military background and I’d love to get their take on it.

Stone is saying that so the Dems lose their shit and overplay their hand. Its literally been his, Trump & Bannon's MO since Day 1.
