Trump was asked what his solution was to climate change. Raking isn’t one of the techniques, nor is it the only one. It’s also not a technique that is recommended by the very people that Trump is using as reference. What is required, is surveillance and a network to handle these. Something that federal government is responsible for, since most of the forests are federal land... regardless of which, letting California burn as you blame forest management is not a solution.

The mismanagement problem has been in the making for 100 years. However, the US Forest Service has started using "controlled" or "prescribed" burning in recent years....something that should have been done a long time ago. Trump has increased funding for these efforts.

The Administration remains committed to accelerating active forest management activities. The Budget reflects this critical priority by requesting $510 million for hazardous fuel mitigation work and $385 million for forest products. Hazardous fuel removal is pivotal in ensuring Federal forests and watersheds are sustainable, healthy, and productive, which would help make them safer and more resilient to the destructive impacts of wildfire. Consistent with the objectives and targets under the President’s Executive Order

Appropriations Act, 2018, which would be bolstered by $2.4 billion in additional suppression resources
under the wildfire cap adjustment. This funding aims to eliminate the need for disruptive “fire borrowing” from forest management programs to fund firefighting shortfalls during times of emergency

Since the Feds own and manage 57% of the forests in CA, and the state only control 3%, the Feds better start raking then. Almost all the current fires are in US Forest Service managed National Forests.

Mismanagement due to US Forest Service policy allowing for clear cutting of trees. This used to be common practice in Federal owned forest in the Sierra Nevada up to the 1990s. The follow up reforestation ended up creating patches of densely packed, single-species, same-aged, tree plantations with no natural firebreak. The old logging practices have altered a large portion of California native forests, transforming them into simplified forests of same-aged trees with a reduced ecological resilience. These disturbed stands are especially prone to wildfire and mortality due to beetle infestation and disease. It has also caused fragmentation and increased edge effect.

Haha! You are such a joke. It talks about clearing a forest area, not the whole forest.

Again, if you have less rain due to climate change that makes the forest susceptible to greater forest fires. You cannot say go 50 miles into a forest with equipment and rake leaves and tinder. That would take massive amounts of manpower. Oh so you want to spend tens of million, likely more into the 100's to rake forest? Okay let's do it!

Also note that a lot of the forest is federal land so in t heory trump is mad because he is not raking his own lawn.

Or just you know a lot of water because water in intense heat situations vaporizes causing steam explosions. I have seen this happen after a lightning struck a tree basically all its bark exploded off after it basically instantly flash boiled the water in it.
