    2) Trump carefully planned the release of his positive test results, and also the announcement he was leaving the hospital, around markets. For example, he announced he tested positive after closing, and announced before closing that he was leaving the hospital.

He had to know the market, a predictive force, would react with negativity when told things were going to get worse. Why didn't he wait 2 hours?

    3) He could have strung everyone along with "maybe" "we'll see" "Pelosi didn't bring a fair offer, she needs to lower her offer a fourth time" etc and avoided the system shock.

    4) Pelosi can now publicly turn on McConnell and say "let's pass something veto-proof". If he accepts, Trump looks ineffective. If he refuses, the Party of Trump admits publicly they're to blame.

This was a dumb move. Is there not oxygen going to his brain?
This is not about the election, well it is but its not about votes.

This is the Republicans admitting they will lose the election and punching some more holes in the boat so that its harder for Biden to stay afloat.
Do the most damage to the economy they can now, so that in 2 years during the mid-terms they can run on how bad Biden did with the economy and hoping no one remembers it was because the Republicans didn't do a damn thing (pretty safe bet considering the attention span of the voting public).
It ignores such insignificant forces as time, entropy, and death

That's an interesting approach. I hadn't thought of that.

    I missed a fun day...

What would possess Trump to figuratively walk out of stimulus talks? Does he think that if he loses the election all his trouble will go away?

That's not how it works Donald.

I think McConnell is already getting set for his role at the Senate Minority Leader. He's abandoned all other legislative functions, including shutting down the Senate until 10/19. He's ensured his win in Kentucky to hold onto his seat (probably was never really threatened) The only item on his agenda now is the Barrett confirmation, and I have no doubt he'll accomplish that. Trump thinks the nomination is his, but we know McConnell looks at the judge packing as McConnell's legacy.

Trump couldn't have played this dumber if he'd tried. He has literally everyone else to blame for shutting down negotiations and denying anyone a stimulus package, and yet took credit for killing people's hope.

But it is totally unfair! Like that one time a reporter absolutely ambushed Trump asking if he had any assuring words for the American public at the start of the pandemic?

Good thing Trump Smartly berated that evil journalist and told him he was a bad man for asking hard questions instead of falling into his trap in reassuring Americans that we weren't fucked.

Wow, you're now at the point where your President is holding your own country hostage. Never thought I'd witness that.

At this point, aren't "white men" the only demographic that Biden doesn't lead Trump in?

It's not the first time. It's just this time it's a lot more life and death than the previous government shutdowns.

Trump shut down our government during 2018/19 because the dems wouldn't add roughly 6 billion for a wall on the Mexican border. Holding our country hostage is pretty much modus operandi. He gets what he wants or he tantrums (or sues) in hopes that you'll give in.
