I said it was the only socially-acceptable, no-questions-asked reason to change your name.

I changed my name legally for personal reasons. My wife took my name when we married. Any time I have spoken to anybody who had records for me under my old name, I get a pause, a condescending look as though I've done something wrong, and generally asked to provide additional documentation to prove I'm not a criminal operating under an assumed name. My wife meanwhile says "Yeah I got married back in 2014", they say "Oh ok" and move right along.

Granted this is in Connecticut, which while fairly progressive politically, famously avoids any potentially awkward conversation or situation like the plague, so I concede it might be different elsewhere. Socially acceptable in other parts of the country, let alone the rest of the world, is likely to be wildly different.

At any rate, my point was that if I have to deal with deadnaming bullshit as a straight white cisgender male with the legal documentation to back it up, transpeople must have it far, FAR worse.

The "good" news is that this has been the case for the past three years and we're still here.

Well he gave COVID-19 to the people that carry the nuclear football so there's that.

So, a quack? Got it. Fucking holistic treatments should be outlawed.

Holistic doesn't mean what you think it does here. It literally means a more complete body, mind, etc... approach to treating the patient, not just treating the disease with medications.

It's not the same thing as things like aromatherapy, acupuncture and other things like that.

I'm not debating whether it's good, better or even effective, just clarifying what it actually IS.

He looks like a bronze statue. Is very odd indeed. Regeneron is clearly the new Hydroxychloroquine.

He's also clearly talking shit, because it's the dexamethasone that's making him 'feel great'. He just won't say that.

I think people confuse holistic and homeopathic, since they kinda sound similar...

Osteopaths are still generally considered to be indulging in pseudoscience and placebo effects.

As I said in another thread, it's a couple levels above someone claiming they can save lives cos they're a Disc Priest.

The Marine Corp Assistant Commandant has tested positive for COVID. The Trump Virus continues to ravage the US government.

Trump acting like a moron is causing the US military to be less effective, and i'm loving it. I suppose that is the one bright spot about Trump, he is too dumb to actually get most of stuff he wants done.

My family is big into all that shit, so suprised it’s not one I heard off. I have a grown ass adult, older than I am, cousin... who goes to school for crystal therapy. We were at a family gathering, where they were all talking about it. My gf, who takes CDC recommendations and creates SOPs from them... said so everyone could hear... “Crystals... shove them up your butt”... the daggers... oh the sweet daggers... we had a blast...

Uhm... think about the US military acting less effective... if you care about the lives of innocent people, that’s a bad thing... think of what happens when they miss or hit wrong targets...

I can assure you that the Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corp does not contribute to target accuracy.

However, he DOES contribute to military policy, and someone like John Brown probably sees that as a good thing that will suffer. It isn't though, the alternative isn't no action, it is action without a clear guiding force. It is a less clear, more chaotic policy that leads to greater harm and suffering in the world.
