It's Sunday, so these are always the lowest-reported numbers for the week and it's rare to see any new records. It is, however, the highest tally for a Sunday since mid-August. This is the 5th straight day with significant increases over last week's numbers. The same situation began the rise towards 60-70k+ territory in June/July--and back then we were starting from a 23k a day average. Tomorrow is also a low-report day but it's still likely to be disappointing.
325 deaths is about the same as last Sunday and the total now stands at
219,695. We'll almost certainly be hitting 220k tomorrow.
Only one related news item today because it's sobering enough and I have an early appointment with the surgeon tomorrow so I'm keeping it short:
Expect 20,000 more coronavirus deaths by the end of the month, former CDC director says.
Stay safe, folks.
