It gets him 1) sympathy, 2) a fake recovery that 2a) makes him look strong and/or 2b) downplays the threat of the virus, and 3) stops the media from talking about his horrible debate performance and the fact that he's a white supremacist.

Seems like a lot to gain to just stay inside for 14 days.

The argument seems to be that Trump can't think of this. Trump doesn't have to, he has a whole staff to work on optics and shit for him.

It also doesn't take much for him to say in a few days "yeah, we took a fuck load of hydroxychloroquine and we're all better now, I'll tell you all about it at my rally later today!"

This is the reaction younger when the man lies 99% of the time. Of course, there is still that 1% chance he does have it. It won't change a thing about how he sees it, though. He'll survive and just become the president that beat it, saying anything he likes about how he did so. Conspiracy fools will go into overdrive and start talking about how China, Democrats or just liberals in general tried to kill him with it and failed.

Those are the planes people order nuclear strikes from if D.C. is nuked into ash. They're on 24/7 ground alert, and up until the end of the Cold War (1990), they were on 24/7 AIR alert, which meant one was always in the air somewhere.

Sorry, I am just recalling the stuff Mueller turned up from the Russian bank I can't remember how to spell. Where they gave him 2 billion in loans where even they estimated his net worth to only be about 778 million. If that is accurate or even remotely accurate. A reminder to all Americans that the net effect of our prime minister catching COVID-19 was that it prompted a surge of patriotic support. From which he emerged with renewed popularity. Which enabled him to tear up key functions of the state

It also silenced press & parliament at key moment in crisis from asking critical questions. And when it was announced he was moving to intensive care was moment of national shock. Everything about this is rocket fuel for ‘patriotism’

Can confirm the "patriotic support." He went from.... Well, Boris, to being someone people suddenly loved because he was "doing his best even with the virus" and so on.

That was the rallying around the flag effect... Because he catched it very early (Early april).The only example that is meaningful here, is the one of Bolsonaro, that i've just posted here. And jair didnt get that bump, he just got it because of handouts and it wasnt very significsnt (just about 3%).

1) The UK is effectively a unicameral parliamentary state with no checks and balances, the US is not.
2) For aforementioned reason, there has never been an election on Johnson in the same vein as there will be on Trump.
3) Biden isn't Corbyn.
4) No Brexit.
