It's not even that OWS is a bad thing; it's just not enough of a good thing.

OWS is pretty much the bare minimum of what a first-world country should be doing in the face of a pandemic, but the Trump Administration isn't really looking for ways to handle this pandemic the way they should; they're just looking for enough of a blanket to attempt to fool the gullible-minded into believing that they deserve credit where credit isn't due.

Which is why it's hilarious, but not unexpected, to find certain people here shilling for the idea that a pre-order amounts to political credit for the vaccine.

The arrangement is an advance-purchase agreement, meaning that the company won’t get paid until they deliver the vaccines.

Pfizer did not accept federal funding to help develop or manufacture the vaccine, unlike front-runners Moderna and AstraZeneca.

Actually, it partly is, at least the theory behind it is. It's to facilitate and accelerate the developement, manufactuaing, and distribution of vaccines, therapeutics, and diagnostics.

The problem is, that Pfizer, got the money for all of the above from Germany, not the US. All the US has done is said, "we'll buy 100m dosages if your faster then everyone who we gave money to."

That said, it's a matter of public record that Pfizer agreed to a $1.95B OWS contract for the US to purchase 100 million doses of the vaccine. This is fact...undeniable fact.

Yet, you can't bring yourself to acknowledge this fact. Weird.
