And I hope Gingrich realizes this very attitude is killing his own party. Remember, the "don't vote strategy" is based on feelings, and the lack of facts.

He supports Trump. Trump is attacking Georgia. He can clutch his pearls all he wants, but this is still his fault.

Well, you've got your set of facts and I've got mine, and my feelings are still very much that my facts are right and that you can choose to believe your wrong facts if you want. Feelings determine facts, after all.

Seriously though, I think he does realize that there's a bit of a circular firing squad going on within the GOP right now. But I don't think that he has the foggiest clue why, or any recognition of his role in creating this situation.

The Office of Special Counsel finds significant wrongdoing--

"Yeah! MAGA! Wait, why aren't you posting in the election thread?"

--by Trump's actions with Voice of America.

The finding from the U.S. Office of Special Counsel, an independent government agency charged with safeguarding federal employees' rights, marks the latest rebuke of Michael Pack, who President Donald Trump appointed to run the U.S. Agency for Global Media, the parent agency to VOA and other broadcasters.

A federal judge last month ordered Pack to stop interfering in the newsrooms of VOA and other media outlets and found that he had jeopardized the First Amendment rights of journalists that his office had targeted for investigation. Lawmakers from both sides of the aisle and press freedom groups have blasted Pack over his actions since he took over in June, accusing him of undermining the broadcasters' editorial independence and defying congressional authority.

After reviewing allegations from current and recent employees, the Office of Special Counsel wrote to the whistleblowers Wednesday saying it had demanded Pack and the U.S. Agency for Global Media conduct an investigation into the allegations.
"Oh who cares about one or two minor--"

The long list of allegations from the whistleblower
    "Of course."

includes accounts of Pack and his deputies violating the legal "firewall" meant to protect the editorial independence of VOA and the other media outlets under his agency, including Radio Free Asia and Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty. The whistleblowers also alleged that Pack and other officials "illegally repurposed, and pressured career staff to illegally repurpose, congressionally appropriated funds and programs without notifying Congress," and disrupted media operations and endangered the safety of foreign national employees by refusing to renew their U.S. visas, according to the letter.

The whistleblowers include Steve Herman, a veteran reporter and VOA's White House bureau chief, according to two sources familiar with the matter.

Pack's aides, who do not have backgrounds in journalism, conducted an investigation into Herman's reporting and compiled a dossier alleging Herman was biased in his coverage of Trump and in his social media posts. NPR first reported the investigation.

According to the letter, the finding was not a final determination. Pack and USAGM have 60 days to report back to the Office of Special Counsel. By that time, President-elect Joe Biden, who has vowed to replace Pack, will be in office.
Replacing is not enough. If he broke the law, he needs to be taken to task. Or, Trump could start proving how deep his own personal swamp is by pardoning the people committing crimes on his direct orders.

White supremacist murderer and "coincidentally" Trump supporter Rittenhouse is now only half the failure of Trump in court.

    "How?"

Trump tried to have everything thrown out and lost. Rittenhouse only tried to have some of the charges dropped, and lost.

Did I mention that we passed 14 million COVID-19 cases? Because I think I forgot to mention we passed 14 million COVID-19 cases a couple days ago. We're now halfway to 15 million (from 14 million).

There will be another national record set tonight.

Trump repeatedly bragged about the vaccine, claiming "ON MY WATCH!" and other promises (such as we'd have it pre-election).

It should surprise nobody that he was wrong, or lied, or both.

Just start pointing out that the vaccine was developed in Germany by a German biotech company that was funded by European taxpayer money.
Don't start to argue if it was his watch or not. The vaccine was developed in the fucking EU.

Looks like national recordS for cases AND deaths tonight.

And if we assume that deaths follow cases by 3 or 4 weeks, that’s when we were at about 120k-160k new cases per day. If we assume that deaths increase linearly, and don’t get impacted by hospital capacity, we can still assume a 20-40% increase, not counting current case increases, if my math isn’t completely wrong.

218,576 new cases; about 26k more than two weeks ago. This is a new national record and I will not hear of any JH nonsense. Again, I won't be able to do comparisons for the previous week Thursday-Saturday (at least) due to the holiday.

    Top 20:

California: 21,825 new cases (new record); 145 deaths
Texas: 17,542 new cases; 224 deaths
Pennsylvania: 11,268 new cases (new record); 206 deaths
Illinois: 10,959 new cases; 228 deaths
    Fuck Florida.
New York: 10,144 new cases; 101 deaths
Ohio: 8,921 new cases; 82 deaths
Indiana: 8,460 new cases (new record); 60 deaths
Michigan: 7,957 new cases; 193 deaths
Massachusetts: 6,675 new cases (new record); 50 deaths
Minnesota: 6,149 new cases; 92 deaths
Colorado: 6,037 new cases; 127 deaths (new record)
Georgia: 5,839 new cases; 81 deaths
North Carolina: 5,637 new cases (new record); 44 deaths
Arizona: 5,442 new cases; 82 deaths
New Jersey: 4,893 new cases; 62 deaths
Connecticut: 4,751 new cases; 20 deaths
Wisconsin: 4,618 new cases; 60 deaths
Missouri: 4,438 new cases; 77 deaths
Tennessee: 3,967 new cases; 93 deaths (new record)

Other states with new case/death records: Arkansas, Iowa, Nevada, New Mexico, Rhode Island, Alaska, Delaware, Wyoming and Maine.

So much for the delta getting smaller.

California became the first state to register 20k new cases in a day (but to be fair they also have the hugest population and do the most testing in a day). Texas isn't far behind. New York passed 10k again for the first time since April. 6 states had over 10k cases. Records for new cases have picked up considerably--which means record deaths will continue to sicken us for weeks to come. The Midwest continues--probably temporarily--to see decreases overall, but Kristi Noem continues trying to follow in Trump's footsteps to kill as many of her constituents as possible.

2,918 is nearly 900 more than two weeks ago and brings the total to 282,829. Another new record (according to worldometers). 8 states had triple-digit death tallies--3 of them in the 200's. I don't know what else to say about it. Nothing printable, at least.

    Related news:

US passes 14 million cases--According to worldometers this actually happened a few days ago and we're already less than 500k away from 15 million. We'll probably hit that by the end of the weekend. As crazy as it may sound, 500k cases in 3 days is VERY feasible now.

Hundreds protest closing of Staten Island bar that refused Covid-19 measures--As a reminder, New York passed 10k cases today. There are fucking morons everywhere and they should be fought tooth and nail.

Would you be willing to get a Covid vaccine in exchange for a $1,500 stimulus check?--How fucked up is it that people need to be bribed to get a shot that could literally save their life?

    Stay safe, folks.

The deaths most definitely are not. We're still a week or two away from feeling the full impact there. The new cases could be the front end of the travel, yes, and it's what I was worrying about last week in my updates.

    The NYTimes reports--

    "Paywall."

Fine, I'll summarize, it's fast. The Trump family, as far back as Trump's father Fred Trump, have been playing a con on their tenants. Specifically, lying about the cost of building materials so NYC allows them to raise rent.

The NYTimes found out about it in 2018 and armed with the evidence, Trump's tenants are suing.

Now now now, she shouldn't fret too much. I'm sure that, even if Trump declares bankruptcy, even if he's placed under house arrest, he'll still find some way to start his Trump news network and pocket the funds from his loyal clingers-on... half of which he'll then have to hand over to her.

Unless Trump spends then rest of his life in solitary confinement, which I doubt he'll spend any part of, there's no way he wont craft up a propaganda network to line his pockets. And even if he doesn't personally do it directly, I'm sure his children will. This "recount" nonsense should be evidence that there are indeed people willing to throw their hard-earned money to Trump in pretty large amounts; I see no reason why they would stop in the future.

I wouldn’t even be surprised if trump quite openly just asked people to give him money for no real given goal.

“The sad democrats convicted me of the bogus fake crimes of tax fraud and campaign finance violation; I need your money to pay off the bad legal fees so I can be a bigly huge strongman”

And his supporters, thinking he’s the lathe of heaven, will probably just give him money.

I’d have thought that these people were likely your poorer, uneducated trailer-trash types who wouldn’t actually have much money to contribute in the grand scheme of things, but there was that one guy that was suing trump over 2.5 million dollars or something like that that he had given Trump to pay for an election lawsuit trump ended up dropping. Meaning people with a good chunk of change also believe in his nonsense.

She'll probably sell some tell all book about being married to Trump and the time during the presidency and make her money that way.
