Also true. That's the problem with Trump -- no matter what he says, you need to wait 24 hours. I'm fairly sure there are several pages of "Trump was just joking" in the Trump Shitshow thread.

I feel, this above most things, is one of the leading reasons why a lot of the Super-Pro Trump posters here have kinda just... scuttled? Like yeah you still have Conservatives/Contrarians in other threads, but the amount of directly defending and supporting Trump himself had begun dwindling when the guy's moral grandstanding proved to be wholly unreliable.

Like it's hard to support his rhetoric when he goes back on it within the next 72 hours, or what he doesn't clarify himself on sounds so appalling that they need to anoint themselves as translators to make people think he's not evil or stupid. At some point I figured the charade got too exhausting to keep up with - for genuine believers and trolls both - so they just don't bother to anymore.

They’re certainly still around, they simply seem to be silent about all things trump. The only excuse I’ve seen them levy is that “they get ganged up on” for supporting trump. Which, of course, is them trying to save face for being unable to support even half the shit trump does or pulls, and them basically storming out of the thread in impotent anger but still thinking that “deep down I’m still right!”

This OP ED piece lists four reasons Trump vetoed the NDAA.

1) It would make China "very unhappy" to veto it.

2) Section 230, we've discussed that already. It has no military relationship in any way.

3) To protect "National Monuments" also known as US military based named after Confederates, aka "traitors who tried to overthrow the government".

Trump holding the military hostage isn't exactly new. I think it's worth pointing out he's doing it yet again. Why do Trump supporters hate the troops so much? I'd ask them, but they've all vanished.

This is the part where the united states lucked out. The Cult leader that threatened to take it over is simply not that smart. Yes he had to strategically make a fight about his loss, its the kind of man he was elected to be and i get that. He should have stuck to surface stuff, get his supporter in DC and whine on Jan 6, its all part of the smart plan to keep the base and throw as much shade on the election as possible. I am happy to see this link. In 3 weeks the virus will be Biden's problem. From the standpoint of the Presidency, the virus is a preexisting problem that he is brought on to try and fix. He needs to fix the problem, but he also needs to do what it takes to avoid being blamed for Trump's incompetence, indifference, and corruption.

I honestly don't know what % of US military would engage in a history-making coup because they were missing two paychecks, if they would even miss those (some government agencies issue paychecks after the working period, for example being paid in July for work in June) before Biden takes his legally-elected position and immediately signs everything.

I...don't know what to think about this. Yes, I'm sure Sanders knows McConnell doesn't want to vote on $2,000 stimulus payments, because it might pass. Yes, the NDAA is important and can stand on its own. This feels like one of those Lawful Good vs. Chaotic Good struggles where I'd be okay either way but really wish they'd just defeat the demon lord without the drama.

The hope is that Biden, with an actual plan in place, can at least start distributing the vaccine swiftly and effectively as well as prioritize creating more of it as well as calling attention to its necessity. Trump has provided zero leadership on this front.

My only complaint with your post is: I sure hope that Biden's main campaign slogan for the 2022 elections is something better than "at least I was better than Trump!".

I am completely confident in Biden and his team doing exactly the correct stuff in order to eradicate the virus as quickly and efficiently as possible. OK maybe eradicate is too strong a word, that might not be possible. Maybe we'll have to take annual vaccines to guard against new mutations that will be quite deadly for those that refuse to take the vaccine.

I think Biden can make pretty solid arguments by saying something to the effect of "Trump did A, B and C to fuck up X, Y and Z while he was president... And the GOP did nothing but stand by and let it happen." Biden should focus on the failings of the GOP, as well as the hopeful successes of his presidency.

Absolutely. It sounds so simple, yet apparently implementing it is not always so easy.

On a practical note, in many situations I have noticed that the people doing work, and the people getting credit for work getting done, are not always the same people. This is a time when this situation absolutely needs to be avoided.

And anything that was not done needs to be directed back to the republicans - they blocked me from helping you out.
