It's already a two dose process. You get the first shot and then get another a week or two later. This is only about the optics of the vaccination and has nothing to do with actually helping people.

I think people are answering a question that doesn't need answering about 2/3 rds of the vaccines we have aren't being distributed. It's not about doses the government is bungling the distribution, it doesn't matter if you have 330 million doses the Trump administration can't get the basic logistics right.

225,558 new cases, which is about 26k more than two weeks ago. I would mitigate it by stating that corrections are likely taking place to inflate the numbers somewhat, but 4 states still haven't reported, so I'll just call it a push for now. It's likely that it'll ultimately be proven to be the result of said corrections, but it pretty clearly demonstrates we're nowhere near out of the woods yet.

Alabama, Mississippi and West Virginia all had new records, but I'm still taking them with a grain of salt for now.

We're probably starting to see the beginning of the holiday bump with some of these numbers. That Texas spike in new cases is undoubtedly partially due to a correction, but they weren't faring well before the holidays and I wouldn't assume they're doing better after. Arizona's death total is also partially due to a correction but their daily totals have been steadily rising the past few weeks. Remember that the new case totals they're seeing now are higher than their highest ever record during the Summer--and that's when they had to start convening death panels.

Florida had a spike a few days ago over 21k. That they're admitting. Fuck Florida.

3,499 deaths is over 100 more than two weeks ago and brings the total to 365,620. I'm fairly sure we'll be well over 3k for the rest of the week until Saturday. Any 7-day averages will be mostly meaningless at this stage but we were hitting 2.7k before the holidays and there's no reason to believe the deaths took a break the past two weeks. Given that new cases haven't subsided and hospitals remain full to bursting nationwide, it's a pretty safe bet we'll be seeing 3k+ for weeks to come yet.
