It's half mast if it's on a ship. Since you were wondering.

Yes, it is possible in this situation.
And it got worse now that the Capital Police Officer has died. That's automatically Felony Murder, with no underlying felony action to tie. Every person who breached the Capital Building is no potentially facing Felony Murder charges.

What would happen if Trump met a sticky end like Pim Fortuyn? His party imploded after his murder (Wether done by a lone wolf or murder ordered by the AIVD/Goverment, we dont know.. Im not a fan of conspiracy theories but this one smells). Would that happen too? or would they go full martyrdom levels of insane?

I would say option 2. Quite a few are sovereign citizen/militia types that think that way.

I'm starting to wonder if he'll actually resign and secure a pardon from Pence that wouldn't be challenged, frames it as getting one over on Pelosi, etc. That's crazy talk, though...right?

Repeated reports have indicated that he has no desire and will not resign.

Would Pence still be willing to pardon him? Trump basically set him up to be a sacrificial lamb to his insane cult. I understand that Pence was genuinely pissed off about that.

If Pence thinks it's beneficial for his personal political future, yes.

Because his personal political calculations are the reasons why he reportedly has no interest in the 25th.

Zero chance Pence would pardon him now.

I still wonder if he will find a way to slink off before the 20th and then turn up in Russia to avoid consequences.

May make it through the House, who knows. But likely going nowhere in the Senate, there still aren't enough Republicans willing to do anything about Trump fomenting an insurrection.

I don't know what political future he's thinking of, maybe back to the state level because he's toast on the national level. He's never winning a Republican presidential primary. Ever.

Not sure if it's a political calculation as it is a personal one. Trump already had him setup to be a fall guy on this, if he actually did the 25th on him, his base would be livid and would actively go for him. He might be doing it to protect himself from their retribution at a persona level, as in prevent them from trying to make personal attacks on him or his family.

Edit: These are consequences he brought onto himself with his support to this point knowing better but that might be the math he is doing on this one now.

I am. As Gorsameth pointed out, he's already pardoned soldiers convicted of war crimes, as well as multiple people who went to jail for lying to protect him. You think he wouldn't pardon those brave patriots who fought for him who he loves so much?

His party imploded because there was no one else, it was a party born entirely out of Pim Fortyns charisma.

Trump is simply the latest manifestation of how far down the rabbit hole the GOP is. He didn't make these people or the party. The Southern Strategy has been doing that for the last few decades. There are plenty of shrewd political operators ready to carry the torch forward.
It ignores such insignificant forces as time, entropy, and death

Now, most of the article is stuff we already discussed. And the article's main source is a GOP Senator who asked his name withheld. Which is the same level of protection I get here, allowing me to be a completely vindicitive asshole. Which I freely admit. But yeah, they're still scared of Trump.

    However.

That's still a self-damning admission, anonymity or not. Whether they say it in their inside or outside voices, the GOP now knows how badly they fucked up in allowing, or becoming, the Party of Trump.

Too litle, too late. I hope the thought of personally taking a role that directly attacked democracy keeps them warm at night.

Meanwhile I'm convinced the rabid fanbase is still in the "Trump did nothing wrong" category. Nothing left there to salvage. Burn it down. Salt the earth.
Regret not containing the embodiment of what they were doing before him anyway?

They dont get a free pass to act like he started all this. But its exactly what they're getting and exactly why nothing is going to change.

Hah, as if the dems will ever grow the balls to actually be serious about their attack ads.

The right may constantly lie about the left, but they're certainly right in that the left has no spine.
