If today is anything to go by, this week is going to be awful. 110k is almost a certainty at this stage and I wouldn't be surprised to see the US hit 120k on Friday. This means the US will also hit 10 million cases by the weekend--WAY earlier than I expected (I predicted mid to late November). Many new records and near-misses. Maryland is on there for the first time since the July surge. New Jersey is hitting numbers they haven't seen since early May. The map signifying "uncontrolled spread" in the US is redder than Jr's. map of what he thinks are Trump voters (which, apparently, contained the Black Sea?). Texas is back up to 10k for the first time since the July outbreak and doesn't look to be slowing down. Their record is around 13k and it won't take much of a push for them to break it. Given that we can expect weekly deaths to increase for a while now I don't think 300k by the end of the year is out of the realm of possibility. Texas topped the list again, but 36 other states had 2-digit death totals.

I’m following Worldometers, which is what Benggaul builds his report from, they had 1201 deaths yesterday. Guessing some of those 400 are going to be reported today.

Actually I'm fairly certain that's a correction that worldometers had already accounted for--deaths reported by JH and other sites tend to lag a bit behind those aggregated by worldometers--and therefore had already reported them on previous days or had already spread the correction out across the appropriate days. I could be wrong, but we'll see what tonight's numbers look like. Right now it doesn't look like there's 400 coming out of nowhere.

Other sites reported 1600 but it's fairly obviously a correction spike. As I mentioned before, Worldometers usually spreads those out over the days they're correcting for when possible and JH (and others) usually just dump it all at once.
