86,275 new cases, about 22k fewer than last Saturday...but once again several states that normally report on Saturday haven't, so shave a few k off of that.

    Top 5:

Texas: 9,211 new cases; 269 deaths
California: 8,765 new cases; 411 deaths
New York: 8,681 new cases; 140 deaths
    Fuck Florida.
North Carolina: 4,130 new cases; 77 deaths

Ultimately we'll probably be at about 90k cases today which isn't terrible compared to the beginning of the year but still remains higher than the high point we were at during the peak of the last wave. The relatively consistent decline in cases is encouraging, but there's still a long way to go. National positivity continues falling and is now around 6% which is really fantastic all things considered. It will come as a surprise to nobody that states like Texas, Florida and South Dakota are still struggling with high positivity rates whereas New York, California and Illinois are all below 5%. Gosh I have no idea why.

2,272 deaths is about 500 fewer than last Saturday and brings the total to 496,063. Steep declines in new cases continues to yield steep declines in death counts and we should be reliably around or even under 2k within 2-3 weeks if the current trend holds. That's still nowhere near great, of course, but it's a far cry from where we were last month.

    Related news:

Four people in Oregon who received both doses of vaccine test positive for coronavirus--The bad news is, of course, that even a vaccination may not prevent you from catching it. The good news is that getting the vaccine appears (more testing is ongoing) to at least decrease the severity if you do catch it. I was not really on board with the CDC saying that vaccinated people could stop wearing masks precisely because of this sort of thing. If they can still get it, then can still spread it.

    Stay safe, folks.

I don't see it. Sorry. The only difference between Trump and the decades of GOP candidates and policies they supported was that Trump would always say the quiet part out loud. They had no problem with the racism, sexism, theocracy, adultery, theft, and lies from all the rest so long as they displayed some tact and competence.

How many of the GOP politicians they supported (and will continue to support) voted to acquit Trump twice? All of them?

Not to mention spending all this time by the media and congress on the former president rather than moving forward with the current president's agenda.

    Time to move on.

Funny story: Biden's been doing that just fine. Most of what Trump did was executive orders which he's been undoing nonstop.

How many days has it been since the election? Have the families and individuals who are struggling received the $2000 cheques that were promised? That should be the number 1 priority.

$1,400 checks made it through House committee literally yesterday. If you wanted it sooner, you shouldn't have voted Republicn. They're the ones slowing things down.

You missed where they said "how many days since the election", because apparently those 2+ months before the Dems had control of the Senate and before Biden was in office still count against them. *shrug*

If you wanna pretend to be a "concerned american," you should know that Americans spell it as "checks," sweetheart.

Never said I was American. Nice try but it's spelled cheques in other places.

Oh so you don't even have a personal investment in shilling for the GOP, you're just doing it for the yucks.

Maybe... get a hobby. Go take a walk, or something. Learn a trade mayhaps.

You didn't know? Yes, it's yet another "really concerned totally neutral observer from another country". It can be forgiven if you weren't aware though. Their lack of awareness is pretty much on par with the Trump supporters we've had in the thread.

Obviously not surprised he was acquitted, but glad that history will remember where each member of Congress stood on the issue. As the GOP continues dying it's slow, inevitable death, it will come back to haunt them.

And now to move on to more productive things, like criminal prosecution.

This has been yet another phase of the greatest witch hunt in the history of our Country. No president has ever gone through anything like it, and it continues because our opponents cannot forget the almost 75 million people, the highest number ever for a sitting president, who voted for us just a few short months ago.
    That was after the vote.

Yes, Trump is still going with "I had 75 million votes therefore I won".

If this is but "another phase of the witch hunt," then godspeed to the with hunters, because there's a fat, orange witch at large that needs capturing.
