This sort of nonsense just enrages me.

1) Why not just wear the god damn mask? Even if you don't think it works...it might. And even if it's a 1% chance it'll help JUST WEAR THE FUCKING MASK. This whole anti-mask nonsense is the worst kind of stupid because it's taking a stupid stand against something that, at worst, is an incredibly minor annoyance. Unless you are one of the 0.00000000000001% of people who legitimately can't wear a mask for medical reasons.

2) Why are you so chicken shit afraid of a shot? At this point millions upon millions of people have received it and how many people have died from the vaccine? Hmmm? Just take your damn shot and shut the hell up.

He says preventative measure work fine...but is against the top two -- masks and vaccines. What a stupid stupid man. And unfortunately it seems that he's unlikely at this point to get it and learn a lesson about hubris.

I felt the same way, doubly enraged because I couldn't argue back the way I would have liked to (he's my landlord, so not going to piss him off). These people are beyond reason - they view the world a certain way and look for "evidence" to literally confirm their echo chamber.

Lost a week of work for which I don't get paid

over a month of side effects from diminished breathing and stamina to needing chest x-rays and steroids to prevent an infection from growing in my lungs.

coughed continuously for close to a month after i got Covid to the point where the people downstairs were yelling "come on what the hell" at like 11pm one night.

My asthma which used to be under major control to the point where i had almost 5 inhalers i did not open yet is much worse now. I am down to 1 inhaler from my backlog since i am using it way more then before covid.

Given that it's Monday and the numbers are going to be fucked anyway, I'll just do the quick report now rather than wait for the last few numbers to trickle in.

45,045 new cases, roughly the same as last week's bullshit report. 785 deaths, also roughly the same. The total is now 548,013.

Still recovering from what is almost certainly a really brutal attack of allergies/hayfever but in this timeline could also be impending doom, but I'll try to get my normal reports back up starting tomorrow if I can lift my arms without all of the muscles in my chest and shoulders screaming at me.

Because all Trump could sell was an unjustified image of being a winner. That's why he holds (present) to the fraud narrative so hard he got in the edge of literal insurrection. I remember some years ago when he did a roast every subject was allowed but bankruptcies. Comedians could talk about whores about infidelity, about tax frauds, about dodging the draft,about the money he got from daddy....about everything but bankruptcies because it broke his winner narrative.

Yeah, welcome to the modern age of politics. You have to pick and choose your battles and who you fight them with. I've given up on any sort of attempts to correct my parents when it comes to political misinformation. They are too old and too ingrained in their views for it to be worth it or to even have any impact. I can, however, focus on the science stuff as my folks (thankfully) recognize my expertise in that area. So I was able to move them from "we'll never get vaccinated ever" to them getting their first shot a couple weeks ago.

That fight was worth it. The rest? Nope. No reason to tear my family apart for no benefit to anyone.
