Lol. I can imagine it already. An eternal cycle of searching for that new platform, only having to leave for another, because the current one is now being required to be properly moderated.

LOL, good luck with the tech infrastructure investments Donnie HAHAHAHA.

Let me guess, another call for donations to fight "the fraud election" to fund it?

Who wants to bet, that if he tries this, he doesn't make it fully, gets 10s of millions in "investments" and "donations" from his gullible followers, and then dips to use that money on his failing businesses so that he doesn't go bankrupt again.

He will suck in million of dollars to support his "free speech platform" and in the end it will be some shoddy trump skin for vkontakte (russian facebook clone)

Problem for Donnie is that it require billions of dollars not millsions or hundreds of millions.

I think that, if you donate to a campaign, it's tax deductible.

If you donate to a GoFundMe for Trump's ripoff of Parler, you don't get that.

So yeah, I hope that this does in fact siphon off some of the increasingly low disposable income amongst the rabid fanbase of anti-masking anti-vaxxers. Any dollar they spend on Twitler is one less the RNC has in battleground states going purple or blue.

I think about 80-85% of the donations for his first "Fight the fraud" attempt was from small doners 3-10~$
Which is the underlaying problem, it put the spotlighjt on how vast the amount of gullible believers there are.
I would be happier if it was big donars and if so tax deductuable (I dunno US tax codes).

It's a much bigger problem if a large portion of the grassrots are, there is no other word, ignorant like fuck.

Lead Capitol riot prosecutor says Trump could be culpable for his role

Michael Sherwin, the federal prosecutor who previously led the criminal investigation into the Capitol riot, said former President Trump could be culpable for his role in the raid.

Sherwin told CBS News’s “60 Minutes” in an interview that aired Sunday that it was “unequivocal” that the former president was “the magnet that brought the people to D.C. on the 6th” before his supporters stormed the Capitol building.

“We have plenty of people – we have soccer moms from Ohio that were arrested saying ‘Well, I did this because my president said I had to take back our house,’” he said. “That moves the needle towards that direction. Maybe the president is culpable for these actions.”

I wonder how many people need to say this, under oath, to form a grand jury?

It's Sunday and the numbers are pretty useless--even more so with Texas lying--but here they are anyway:

39,496 new cases, about 2.5k fewer than last Sunday...with 12 fucking states--including Michigan--not reporting. Given that it's looking more and more like numbers are heading up this is pretty damned unacceptable.

455 deaths brings the total to 555,314.

As an aside, California has been really dropping the ball in getting the most vulnerable vaccinated and that needs to be stepped the fuck up considering the dense population there.

    Stay safe, folks.

Problem is the embarrassment as a country itself, so it wont happen.
Hell Nixon got pardoned, you think US can stomach another presidential embarrassment on a GIGANTIC scale such as insurrection?

Watergate or a blowjob in the oval office is not even a galaxy close to insurrection.

Indeed, but the numbers on Sunday are always way lower than the rest of the week with the possible exception of the odd Monday. Even California posted fewer than 100 and that's not really indicative of reality right now.

My main concern is that every week now more and more states have either gotten their reports for Sunday in very late or have forgone them completely and that really can't happen right now when we're likely on the verge of heading into another wave. It's irresponsible. More and more reports are coming out that we're in a race between vaccinations and mutations and it's practically neck and neck. We cannot afford to get sloppy now, not with personal precautions and not with keeping people informed.

On the contrary I think it would be a novel and glowing if the US properly indicted the clear and obvious attempts to take down the fundamental core of its governance.

The only people that would get butthurt about it are the GOP congressmen clutching their pearls, the trumpkins claiming it was all rigged, and the right-wing talking head pundits. But they're always angry about everything anyway.

It would be novel but nevertheless an embarrassment. I mean, I wish you are correct but given US history of presidential crimes not even remotely close to this getting swept under the rug I'm afraid it wont happen as far as I'm concerned.
If we ignore the international rational it would happen but the masses of grasroot supporters who believe in the bible and Tucker Carlson and the pletore of Goebbels like him as the only truths in the world outside gravity... welll..

I really don't think the number of people who would think it's an "embarrassment" to the US is actually very large. The people that are worried that it'd be an embarassment are the people who are worried that it'd personally embarrass them. The majority of people in the US knew Trump was a dipshit. They knew it in 2016, they knew it in 2020 and they know it now. No one but the groups I mentioned would care, and frankly I stopped caring what those feckless, morally bankrupt groups thought long, long ago.

As for people getting violent should Trump face proper justice, I'll say what I'll always say... the just and lawful will not fear the unjust and unlawful. If they want to stir up trouble, the FBI is waiting for them.

He had a substansial part of the votes (still beaten by his own words 'landslide') but the problem is that he got GOP behind him for some time still.

The votes & their representatives heavily lean towards embarrassed in the grand scheme of things. I mean, how many numbnuts voted for the bill to keep Biden from his rightfull precidency in thehouse of representatives? They would never have done that to that extent if they didnt know it would be political suicide not to when midterms comes along.

It is an embarrassment even though I would suggest collective denial is the proper term.
