As Trump's takeover and intended destruction of the Republican Party went on, many of us predicted that some would claim to be the last sane person left in the party.
This is now being monetized.
And as always, the question is "WHY DIDN'T YOU DO SOMETHING?" But we've already answered that over and over.Former House Speaker John Boehner tore into right-wing media and what he called the GOP's "crazy caucus" in a book excerpt published by Politico Friday, targeting Sen. Ted Cruz, Fox News' Sean Hannity and the late Roger Ailes, and former Rep. Michele Bachmann.
Boehner seeks to cast himself in his new memoir, titled “On the House: A Washington Memoir," as one of the last leaders of the GOP's sensible conservative movement, before the party was co-opted by Donald Trump and other members who dedicated themselves to "wedge issues and conspiracies and crusades."
The article I linked goes on to include Hannity, Cruz, etc. But again, we all saw this coming. Every Republican no longer in power is going to claim they were the only one trying to stop Trump. And, well, they're pretty much all lying, cowards, or both. If as many Republcians opposed Trump as say they oppose Trump, the last four years would have played out differently.Boehner recalls how he "got all kinds of shit" for stating, as a matter of fact, that the state of Hawaii said President Obama was born there — writing that "you would have thought I’d called Ronald Reagan a communist."
"All of this crap swirling around was going to make it tough for me to cut any deals with Obama as the new House Speaker. Of course, it has to be said that Obama didn’t help himself much either. He could come off as lecturing and haughty. He still wasn’t making Republican outreach a priority. But on the other hand—how do you find common cause with people who think you are a secret Kenyan Muslim traitor to America?"
Did the weed bux dry up from whatever company he was shilling for, for a while? They must have.
Boehner will forever be remembered as the feckless, weak, pathetic loser to let the Tea Party/Freedom Caucus "cuck" him hard and grow to a frightening level of influence and power under his Speakership.
He was a terrible Speaker, and remains a terrible human being.
So, someone just rammed their car into a US Capitol checkpoint. Injured two cops.
"Why post that here?"
Counting the minutes until the suspect is found to be a Trump supporter.
Thursday's report:
76,786 new cases, about 9k more than last Thursday.
Top 5:
New York: 9,144 new cases; 82 deaths
Michigan: 7,098 new cases; 55 deaths
Fuck Florida.
New Jersey: 5,606 new cases; 30 deaths
Texas: 3,877 new cases; 136 deaths
Hey, look who has to admit to being in the top 5 again.
New York's cases continue to climb slowly. Michigan's cases continue to climb rapidly. Florida's numbers are heading up though, again, we'll never really know what's really going on down there. Fuck Florida. New England and the Midwest are currently the high-risk areas, The West Coast, for the most part, is currently doing well.
952 deaths is about 300 fewer than last Thursday and brings the total to 566,611. Surprise, surprise, Texas is back over 100 deaths and were only barely edged out by California in the number one spot at 137. California's deaths continue dropping in line with their drop in new cases. Last Thursday they had around 100 more.

All 50 states will open Covid-19 vaccine eligibility to everyone 16 and older--Good news in the fight against the virus. Production continues to ramp up under Biden and there should be enough to get everyone fully vaccinated soon. And not the Blizzard "Soon". We're not pulling ahead in the race yet because those vaccinations actually need to be given, but it's a good sign.
I'm still debating on whether or not to move these to the Biden thread given that Trump isn't in office anymore. On the one hand Trump and his supporters are pretty much the main reason this has been--and continues to be--as huge a problem as it is. On the other, Biden is the one getting shit done right now and should be the one credited with recovery--or potentially blamed for upcoming issues--as it happens. Of course, the Biden thread continually gets derailed with silly pedantic bickering for 10 pages at a time so maybe it's better to keep it here where we are blessed with having to hear about Trump in the news less often. Thoughts?
Stay safe, folks.

RIP the All-Sar MLB game from Atlanta.
Man, what's with Republican states and passing odious legislation that causes corporations to flee their states?

Man, Republicans really seem like they want to cancel the MLB for pulling the All-Star game out of Atlanta.
Cancel culture is going too far!
“Do not lose time on daily trivialities. Do not dwell on petty detail. For all of these things melt away and drift apart within the obscure traffic of time. Live well and live broadly. You are alive and living now. Now is the envy of all of the dead.” ~ Emily3, World of Tomorrow
Words to live by.
well the Georgia GOP passed a law to cancel Delta's tax breaks for them just speaking against the voting billing
@cubby Wouldnt this be at least knocking on the door of 1st amendment land seeing this is literally the government taking an action to punish a (at least according to the GOP) people too my friend corporation for what was said.
"Law and Order", lots of places have had that, Russia, North Korea, Saddam's Iraq.
Laws can be made to enforce order of cruelty and brutality.
Equality and Justice, that is how you have peace and a society that benefits all.
Several seconds later:“Today, Major League Baseball caved to fear, political opportunism, and liberal lies” Gov. Brian Kemp (R) said in a statement. “Georgians — and all Americans — should fully understand what the MLB’s knee-jerk decision means: cancel culture and woke political activists are coming for every aspect of your life, sports included.”
--Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-SC)In light of @MLB's stance to undermine election integrity laws, I have instructed my staff to begin drafting legislation to remove Major League Baseball's federal antitrust exception.
